This is a disc that had my musician buddies ranting and raving for years. The musicianship is way ahead of its time. If you like Joe Walsh, Free, ZZTop (check out 'Chevrolet' - better even than Billy Gibbons; unreal!) you will love this disc. You simply won't believe this band did not become way famous - still a mystery to me.

 fasten your headphones!!!
haven't listened to this album in years but it is even better than I remember. HARD rock with a Texas blues slant. Great vocals, searing guitar work from Snuffy Walden, Leslie Sampson is the best drummer I ever saw play on stage and tres-solid in studio. They pop you in the aural senses right from the get-go, then lead you up and down on a musical thrill ride with great change of pace. 3 excellent musicians who should have gotten more attention. Perhaps because they were about 25 years ahead of their time---too bad. A second album was good but not as fiery. Fasten your seatbelts, you're going on a roller coaster ride!!

One of the greatest..
..myteries of rock music is why this band weren't much more successful. This is a fantastic rock album,and still sounds as fresh and powerful as it did 33 years ago.Snuffy Walden's sound and feel on this album are simply awesome.Great drumming by Les Sampson too;wild and forceful.I highly recommend this CD.

With all of his lengthy suites and unified concept albums, Rick Wakeman's solo work would appear to be very difficult to anthologize. As the first Wakeman compilation available domestically in the U.S., that's what Recollections: The Very Best of Rick Wakeman (1973-1979) sets out to do. The two tracks from Journey to the Centre of the Earth are edited excerpts, but otherwise all the material is present in its original, full-length form. Most of the other pieces (14 in all) are from The Six Wives of Henry VIII, The Myths & Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, White Rock, and Rick Wakeman's Criminal Record -- most of them cohesive concept works that devoted fans will already have. By its very nature, Recollections can't be anything other than a sampler for casual fans, but in that respect it functions very well. ~ Steve Huey
