Johnny Depp stars in this gripping psychological thriller. Other featured performers include John Turturro, Maria Bello and Timothy Hutton. Special DVD features include four deleted scenes with optional director's commentary, three behind-the-scenes featurettes, more. Based on a Stephen King novella, the psychological thriller SECRET WINDOW is reminiscent of an Alfred Hitchcock film. Eccentric author Mort Rainey (Johnny Depp) finds his life spiraling out of control. With a drinking problem and a cigarette habit he can't shake, Mort can barely function when his wife (Maria Bello) leaves him and he abandons his work. In the midst of his anguish, a deranged man, John Shooter, (John Turturro) appears at Mort's New York cabin, claiming that Mort has plagiarized one of his stories. As his wife pushes Mort to finalize their divorce and Shooter systematically destroys his life, he struggles to restore order to an increasingly insane situation.
Playing off of Turturro who is superb as the crazed, Gothic Shooter, Johnny Depp shines in his role with a quirky, brilliant performance. The mannerisms he brings to Mort, such as a problem with a clenched jaw, makes the author's descent into madness compelling and believable. With an emphasis on character study over special effects, the chills provided by this film rely on skilled acting and evoke thrillers of earlier generations like PSYCHO and STRANGERS ON A TRAIN, including a shocking twist of an ending. Secret Window Movie Review Average Rating: (4.2 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews A Backfire. This movie is good, well . . . after a while. It is incredibly boring at the beginning and the storyline just seems like another rip-off flick. Near the end, it gets good though. Everything makes sense, his psycho personality is murdering everyone and he figures it out. Frankly, this was a pretty good movie, but I've seen better. If you are a horror film fanatic, look for this as it is filled with suspense. But otherwise it's something of a cheap McDonald's toy to a passerby. Good Movie, Good Twist I thought Secret Window was a good movie. I thought the cast did a good job as well. The best part of this movie is Johnny Depp's acting. His performance was really on in this movie. I never saw the twist coming and once it came I was surpised. This movie is creepy and will make you jump a couple of times. Overall I think this is a good thriller mystery movie and you should check it out right away. Great Buy for your dvd collection. Don't waste your time. The first reviewer already gave you the ending but don't waste your time or money on this movie. The plot is very shallow and Depp is a great actor but it is surprising that he did this role. If you have not seen the movie please do not read on...
The ending is unexpected, unbelievable and stolen from Fight Club. Two questions, why did he kill his own dog? And, what was the significance of his watch getting caught on the shifter of the truck he tossed over the cliff? Submitted by Ringfinger8 (St. Louis) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
this is not depps best but still is totally awesome I am sorry but Depp was better when he did Blow, and Captain Jack Sparrow, but that does not mean he did not do good here. This movie has an interesting twist in the end that was totally awesome and I also loved how the movie ended. Depp is awesome, probably the best actor in hollywood right now aside from Edward Norton and Denzel Washington. See this movie, it is funny, and it is eerie and you would never think, that the movie would end the way it did. Submitted by puertoricandj (buffalo, new york, usa) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$23.45 Co-helmed by WALL-E director Andrew Stanton, FINDING NEMO follows Marlin (voiced by Albert Brooks), an overprotective clown fish father, as he desperately searches the farthest reaches of the sea for his missing son Nemo. Marlin's journey leads him beyond the Great Barrier Reef into deeper and darker waters, where he meets Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), a forgetful yet optimistic blue tang, and a number of not-so-friendly--and often very hungry--aquatic creatures. Meanwhile, little Nemo finds himself in a dentist's fish tank in Syndey, Australia, along with other underwater captives, including Gill (Willem Dafoe), the group's scarred Moorish idol leader. As Nemo works with his new friends on a plan to escape their tank, Marlin and Dory swim closer, but they'll need more than just fins to get into the dentist's office.
This fifth computer-animated outing by Pixar continues the company's remarkable winning streak that began with TOY STORY. Like other Pixar films, FINDING NEMO features a story with heart--this time, a father-and-son tale--and thoroughly charming leads--in this case, Marlin, Nemo, and Dory. And, of course, there's an army of fascinating supporting ...

$15.15 Loosely inspired by the time-honored Disney theme-park ride, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL is a swashbuckling high-seas tale directed by Gore Verbinski. When Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), an eccentric rogue, arrives at Port Royal, he barely avoids going down with his ship. Soon enough, he's in the market for a new one, but not before he saves the life of Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), the beautiful daughter of the governor (Jonathan Pryce). This act of bravery sets into motion a sweeping adventure involving Elizabeth's childhood friend, blacksmith Will Turner (Orlando Bloom); a mysterious medallion; and a legendary pirate ship, the Black Pearl. The Pearl's mottled Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) wants ...

$10.29 Turning up the style and energy levels that he kept under a threshold with 1997's JACKIE BROWN, Tarantino's obvious glee and reverence for the underground kung fu action pictures of the '70s, and Sergio Leone spaghetti westerns, makes for a stunning visual spectacle. Employing split screens, slow-motion, an anime sequence, and his trademark ultra-hip musical selections, Tarantino's film dares viewers to be unimpressed.

After a six-year hiatus, Quentin Tarantino returns to the director's chair with KILL BILL. The movie proves once again that he is a hyperactive visionary and the master of cinematic coolness. Split into two volumes by Miramax in order to ensure that Tarantino's vision would not be compromised (and presumably to sell more tickets), KILL BILL: VOL. 1 tells the first half ...

$8.19 GOTHIKA stars Halle Berry as Dr. Miranda Grey, a psychiatrist who becomes a patient in her own mental hospital after she is accused of murdering her husband (Charles S. Dutton). Grey's only initial memory of the incident involves a chilling encounter with a distraught girl (Kathleen Mackey) on a rain-soaked road. The incarcerated and medicated Grey is now haunted by the same apparition, and she must convince her former colleague Pete Graham (Robert Downey Jr.) that she is not insane or guilty of murder. Meanwhile, the seemingly mad ramblings of Chloe (Penelope Cruz), one of Grey's former patients, now make more sense, and Grey must throw aside clinical logic to solve the supernatural murder mystery.
Kassovitz, who is already a capable actor (AMELIE) and director (CRIMSON RIVERS), makes the leap to Hollywood filmmaking with GOTHIKA. Drawing from heavily from the Japanese horror renaissance that began with RINGU in the late 1990s, Kassovitz conjures up a forebodingly stark and shadowy tale. Berry continues her remarkable string of success (after her Oscar-winning role in MONSTER'S BALL, along with DIE ANOTHER DAY and X-MEN 2), portraying Grey ...
