| | Avantasia Metal Opera CD (2001)
Music Remains The Same CD music
$10.35 An all-star aggregation similar in conception to Ayreon, Avantasia's The Metal Opera naturally spotlights its creator, Tobias Sammet, who wrote all the music and the involved fantasy storyline over the course of a year as a side project from his main gig with the German power metal band Edguy. Though Sammet's vocals play a major role, he recruited some of his power metal contemporaries to sing the parts of different characters in the story, tailoring his casting choices -- elves, dwarves, Druids, and other D&D-type mainstays -- to their vocal ranges. (Oddly, given the themes, there's a bit of a Christian undertone to the lyrics.) It's tempting to say that ...

Music Remains The Same CD music
$10.39 This is the raucous and raw release from Finnish heavy metal legends Hanoi Rocks, which includes 12 songs.
Hanoi Rocks was one of the few '80s-era glam acts to get it right -- basing their sound/approach on the New York Dolls rather than Van Halen. Although singer Michael Monroe found it impossible to carry on with the band after the death of drummer Nicholas "Razzle" Dingley, by the early 21st century he must have had a change of heart. Once more, Monroe was united with guitarist Andy McCoy -- releasing Twelve Shots on the Rocks in 2002 and committing ...
| | Intervision 5 Inside CD (2005)
Music Remains The Same music CDs
$12.79 Intervision 5 is a young, eclectic, Portland-based quintet, employing disparate elements of soul, rock, and jazz to form their unique pop sound. Earning sonic comparisons to Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder, and Jamiroquai, I5 is distinguished by decorative three-part harmonies that flow effortlessly over infectious, undulating grooves. In June of 2005, Intervision 5 completed their debut CD, Inside, at the renowned Kung Fu Bakery in Portland, Oregon. The album features such guest musicians as Hans Teuber (woodwinds/Ani Difranco) and legendary Portland guitarist Dan Balmer, and was co-produced by Grammy winning engineer Bob Stark. The Oregonian writes, “It's a sweet listen. Lyrics tug at the heart from everyday moments, while pure vocals steer melodies over engaging rhythms.” I5 received a weeklong feature on Kink fm 102, and were asked to play for the first KINK Early Escape cruise of 2005. They were booked a spot on the Bite of Oregon’s A&E mainstage, selected to play at Musicfest NW, and received their TV debut on KATU's AM Northwest within the first month and a half of their album's release. Inside demonstrates to listeners that the band has honed a sophisticated sound not easily squeezed into the alternative pop genre.Since then, I5 has opened for Billboard-sensation Lifehouse, have been interviewed by nationally broadcasted radio shows, receive consistent circulation on Live 365 Pop Up Radio, and have received light airplay on KINK FM 101.9, KNRK 94.7, 105.1 FM The Buzz, as well as on local university stations. They have repeatedly been featured on Portland’s own PDXposed, and they were featured on KINK’s Noontunes at Pioneer Courthouse square in the Summer ...
