| Classic Doomsday
This is another great doomsday movie. It's pretty decent being a made for tv by HBO. The audio and video could have been cleaned up a little bit more but nevertheless a classic.

| Chilling tale about World War III
'By Dawn's Early Light' is a low-budget thriller that turned up on TV late at night during the early 90's and has largely been forgotten. Credit to HBO for bringing it to DVD. An excellent cast including future Oscar winner Martin Landau and some of the best character actors alive: Darren McGavin, James Earl Jones, Daniel Benzali and Jeffrey DeMunn keeps this well ahead of Hollywood fare like 'The Sum Of All Fears'. The low budget ensures that the script pays attention to it's realistic and fairly depressing portrayal of a sudden nuclear strike on US soil. Fightening and thought-provoking - you should take time to watch this.

| Outstanding Drama
The plot is supberb. The characters give powerful convincing performances. This scenrio makes you think about people in power. It makes you think about having mature government officials to make the right decisions in a time of crisis. The decisions made will affect millions of lives. This movie is thought provoking in terms of what nuclear war will do to the planet and obliterate the human race.

This has an allstar cast and they really know how to play out the drama of our cold war era... you never get tired of watching this one over and over.

| destined to become a classic
I have to say im surprised that this film wasn't a blockbuster. It ranks with "braveheart", "an officer and a gentleman" and other greats.
