This DVD film stars Powers Boothe, Rebecca De Mornay, James Earl Jones, and Martin Landau. Four people have three minutes, two choices, and one chance for survival! As the United States and the Soviet Union enter an era of friendly relations, a fanatical opposition group detonates a nuclear missile over a Russian city. Suddenly, a chain reaction of accusations and actions begin the groundwork for World War III and two Air Force pilots are poised to perform the "grand tour" - a systematic bombing of the political and military infrastructure of the USSR. By Dawn's Early Light Movie Review Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) Classic Doomsday This is another great doomsday movie. It's pretty decent being a made for tv by HBO. The audio and video could have been cleaned up a little bit more but nevertheless a classic. Submitted by omcleod (Somerset, NJ, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Chilling tale about World War III 'By Dawn's Early Light' is a low-budget thriller that turned up on TV late at night during the early 90's and has largely been forgotten. Credit to HBO for bringing it to DVD. An excellent cast including future Oscar winner Martin Landau and some of the best character actors alive: Darren McGavin, James Earl Jones, Daniel Benzali and Jeffrey DeMunn keeps this well ahead of Hollywood fare like 'The Sum Of All Fears'. The low budget ensures that the script pays attention to it's realistic and fairly depressing portrayal of a sudden nuclear strike on US soil. Fightening and thought-provoking - you should take time to watch this. Submitted by Fat Freddy (London, England) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Outstanding Drama
The plot is supberb. The characters give powerful convincing performances. This scenrio makes you think about people in power. It makes you think about having mature government officials to make the right decisions in a time of crisis. The decisions made will affect millions of lives. This movie is thought provoking in terms of what nuclear war will do to the planet and obliterate the human race. Submitted by lloydness ((ex."Auburn,WA, USA")) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$12.85 The feature film debut of Hayao Miyazaki (NAUSICAÄ OF THE VALLEY OF THE WIND, PRINCESS MONONOKE), THE CASTLE OF CAGLIOSTRO depicts one adventure of the master thief Lupin and his rough-around-the-edges gunman, Jigen. Something of a cross between Batman, James Bond, and Cary Grant's character in TO CATCH A THIEF, Lupin is a suave ladies' man who is also given to feats of athletic daring, aided by a gadget filled belt that gets him out of more than a few scrapes. The plot has Lupin and Jigen traveling to the sleepy little country of Cagliostro and coming to the aid of the unwilling fiance of the diabolical Count Cagliostro. After CAGLIOSTRO, Miyazaki ...

$13.55 This high-action flight movie centers on a team of three sexy stealth bomber pilots who are forced to fly with EDI (Extreme Deep Invader), a computer-manned prototype plane that specializes in extra-precision bombing. The brainchild of a Bill Gates-esque wunderkind (Richard Roxburgh), EDI has the ability to learn at a fantastic rate, talks like HAL from 2001 A SPACE ODYSSEY, and likes to listen to hard rock before going into combat. Before long, a freak accident causes it to question authority and launch an attack on Russia. W.D. Richter's script probes big issues involving man, machine, and the nuclear ...
