This DVD film stars Jon Voight, Graham Greene, and Anne Archer. They murdered his family, destroyed his past, and changed his future.
What would it feel like to see your culture destroyed, all your people killed -- to be the last of your race? In 1911, Ishi, the sole survivor of an Indian tribe massacred during the 1800s, reluctantly emerged from his years in hiding.
Anthropologist Alfred Kroeber quickly became fascinated by Ishi and made it his mission to uncover all the secrets of the Yahi tribe so they would not perish with Ishi's death.
So Professor Kroeber and his wife, Henriette, provided shelter for Ishi, and for the rest of his life the anthropologist devoted himself to this quest.
Meanwhile, the lonely, isolated Ishi has difficulty fitting into the white man's world.
The year is 1911, and there is hardly a Native American tribesman left in the wilds. Ishi is a Yahi tribesman who is discovered raiding a slaughterhouse. When Doctor Kroeber and his wife Henriette learn of Ishi's existence, they become intrigued and embark on a mission to find out the secrets of the Yahi Indians before they are extinct.
A River City production.
