Tour De Force Performance
Smiley's People movie I began reading LeCarre in the late 70's. Smiley's People video I was living in England in 1978 when "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" orginally aired on British TV. I remember how perplexed and intrigued I was while watching it. Alec Guinness' understated demeanor as George Smiley was brillant. When I moved back to the States, I got another chance to watch Guinness as Smiley in "Smiley People" It was fascinating watching his final confrontation with "Karla" unfold. Who knew Patrick Stewart would soar on to greater heights back then? His was a performance made more brillant because he had no dialogue, merely acting with his eyes (like Duvall in "To Kill A Mockingbird"). If you are a fan of the Cold War spy genre, don't pass up this first rate production and acting tour de force.

A great concluding set to LeCarre's masterpiece.
Smiley's People film This is a nust for those of you who have seen Tinker, Tailor. LeCarre wrote the screenplay and the tone is unmistakable. What a treat.
