Latin-pop superstar Marc Anthony's seventh record, AMAR SIN MENTIRAS, translates in English as "to love without lies," a title which perfectly captures his impassioned, ingenuous style of torch singing. As a child, Anthony was a fan of Air Supply, and "Ahora Quien" and "Se Esfuma Tu Amor" have as much in common with the aforementioned Australian crooners as with Willie Colon and other Latin luminaries. Anthony proves he can also pick up the pace ably with the danceable pop of "Valio La Pena."
The week of 2004 that AMAR SIN MENTIRAS was released, rumors swirled about Anthony's purported marriage to larger-than-life movie star/singer Jennifer Lopez, and her appearance on this record does nothing to deny it. J. Lo gives what might be the most torrid vocal performance of her career in a duet with Anthony on "Escapemonos." AMAR SIN MENTIRAS sounds like the musings of a man in the throes of passion, a moving record from a genuinely emotive singer.

Well, I really like Marc Anthony in english..and this new spanish is GOOD but NOT GREAT!! I am used to the EXCITED and COOL MARC ANTHONY and this album does have a couple nice uptempo songs and a couple nice ballads but thats pretty much it...maybe he should have worked on the CD a little more???

Marc Anthony is the best and his albums "amar sin mentiras" & "valio la pena" arre really, really good. I love both albums, and all of his albums. I love him. Congratulations Marc!!!!!!!! -spanish girl-

Really one of his better CD´s with "MENDED" so sentimental and so deep in his lyrics. For those ones who like the salsa you always would buy "VALIO LA PENA" that is the salsa version of this CD.

I AGREE. YOU KNOW CERTAIN SINGERS YOU CAN BUY THEIR STUFF AND ALWAYS KNOW IT WILL BE THE BEST THEY HAVE TO GIVE, THIS NEW CD SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE WITH THE RADIO CUTS VERSIONS AT LEAST. THE MARKETING WAS WRONG, MARC HAS A SUPER VOICE, NEEDS TO FOCUS, I WILL ALWAYS BE A FAN, THE MAN HAS TALENT. A DUET WITH VIKKY CARR WOULD BE PERFECT. VIKKY IS A LEGEND WHO OPENED THE DOOR FOR US (HISPANICS WORLDWIDE) TO HEAR ON MAINSTREAM RADIO TV ETC, THE WOMAN IS CLASS, AND WITH BOTH OF YOU WITH SUCH EMOTIONS, DO TWO VERSIONS ENGLISH AND SPANISH OR HELL, DO BI-LINGUAL THATS COOL TOO.

Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton were formerly part of Stevie Ray Vaughn's backing band, Double Trouble.
There are one-hit wonders throughout the history of music, but very few one-album wonders like the Arc Angels. After the death of blues-rock guitar hero Stevie Ray Vaughan, fellow singing guitarists, Texans, and Vaughan devotees Doyle Bramhall II and Charlie Sexton formed the quartet with Vaughan's rhythm section of bassist Tommy Shannon and drummer Chris Layton. Their 1992 debut release would also be their swan song, but the self-titled album would prove to be one of the best rock/pop/blues recordings of the decade as well. The opening "Living in a Dream" is the only tune Sexton and Bramhall II co-composed, and is perhaps the closest that the Arc Angels come to re-creating Vaughan's signature sound. "Paradise Cafe" is one of a handful of tracks Sexton co-wrote with pop composer Tonio K., but he and Bramhall II engage in some ZZ Top-like call-and-response vocals, and Bramhall II's Vaughan dedication, "Sent by Angels," features some of the album's most impassioned singing. Funky tunes like "Sweet Nadine," "Good Time," and "Carry Me On" lighten the mood, and Shannon, Layton, and guest keyboardist Ian McLagan play brilliantly throughout in setting up the singing guitarists. The spirit of Vaughan permeates the recording, from the production of Little Steven to the liner notes ("Dedicated to our friend, Stevie Ray Vaughan. We miss you"), yet never sounds forced, purposeful, or contrived. Alas, the final two songs -- the rocking "Shape I'm In" and epic "Too Many Ways to Fall" -- sport ...
