Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, the Dudley Corporation excels at taut, energetic indie-rock tempered by occasional moments of melancholy, as evinced on 2002's THE LONELY WORLD OF., its first full-length album. Highlights of LONELY WORLD include the raucous, garage-influenced tune "One in a Squillion" and the restless, Pavement-like number "Slowed in Motion," tracks that reveal that the group has done its alt-rock homework.
Personnel: Chris Leonard (vocals, banjo); Claire Timmins (vocals, background vocals); Alan Barr (cello).
Recording information: Chem 19, Hamilton, Scotland (06/2001).

Lonely World Of The Dudley Corporation album
$14.49 Buoyed by the popularity of the hit contemporary pop ballad "Home," singer Michael Bublé's 2005 album, IT'S TIME, clearly positioned the vocalist as the preeminent neo-crooner of his generation. Easily the singer's most stylistically wide-ranging album so far, 2009's CRAZY LOVE is also one of his brightest, poppiest, and most fun. Bublé kicks things off with the theatrical, epic ballad "Cry Me a River" and proceeds to milk the tune with burnished breath, eking out the drama line by line. It's over the top for sure, but Bublé takes you to the edge of the cliff, prepares to jump, and then gives ...

| | 30 Seconds To Mars This Is War CD (2009)
Lonely World Of The Dudley Corporation album
$12.24 On This Is War, 30 Seconds to Mars shift their music with the shifting times, adopting a hybrid of the Killers' retro new wave and My Chemical Romance's gothic prog, winding up with a sound that suits their stance. Producers Steve Lillywhite and Flood, both veterans of U2, do give This Is War an appropriately epic scale, helping to bring into focus this mix of synth rock, metal, and prog flavors with Auto-Tuned vocals, gurgling synthesized loops, Kanye cameos, and a children's choir on almost every other song. This move toward goth-glam requires 30 Seconds to emphasize hooks and gives them aural variety, which makes ...

Lonely World Of The Dudley Corporation songs
$10.09 Consafos sounds as if they've been listening to old-timey country legends and Cowboy Junkies judging by the lovely opener "On and On." Led by singer Stefanie Drootin, the song flows with an acoustic arrangement including Billy Talbot (Jr.) on mandolin. It then veers into a sound that closely resembles the title track of Pink Floyd's Atom Heart Mother. The son of Crazy Horse member Billy Talbot, Talbot keeps the song moving and winding through different melodies, always resulting in an interesting journey. "Welcome Mat" has Drootin shining with an almost angelic quality on the darker, dirge-like tune. Trumpeter David Max Crawford adds a lot of color here before changing direction again into a Beatles-like feel. The simplicity of the songs, regardless of the changes throughout, is the band's greatest asset, especially during the pure, haunting Americana title track complete with the brushes of drummer Alance Ward; "Live life live life to the full," she sings on the gorgeous song. Another ...
| | Collection: Aerosmith/Get Your Wings/Toys In The Attic CDs (2004)
Lonely World Of The Dudley Corporation album
$22.29 Wondering how Aerosmith ended up with such a legendary reputation? The answer can be found for those who dive into this special package of Aerosmith's first three albums and behold the magic woven by America's premiere hard-rock band before excess and ego took over.
Coming out of Boston in 1973 with its self-titled debut, this quintet was originally derided as an American version of the Rolling Stones thanks to the physical similarities between Jagger/Richards and Tyler/Perry. But with such future hits as "Dream On," "Walk This Way," and "Sweet Emotion," Aerosmith showed that it was blazing its own path. With influences that ranged from the Memphis soul of Rufus Thomas ("Walking the Dog") and the jump blues of Bullmoose Jackson ("Big Ten Inch Record") to the British Invasion blues-rock of the Yardbirds ("Train Kept a Rollin'"), the boys from Beantown were as much rock fans as rock stars. In addition to the aforementioned covers and hits, lesser-known but equally worthy originals ...
