The more things change, the more Lemmy stays the same. He is a pillar of stability in the wobbly world of metal, where bands and trends come and go. Almost every Motorhead album sounds like the last, albeit with a couple new twists thrown in. And that's not a bad thing. Indeed, this 2004 platter serves up the expected blend of thrashers, mid-tempo grinders, and amped-up, old-time rock & roll, but INFERNO feels like the group's spark has been rekindled.

The most obvious infusion of energy comes from guest guitarist Steve Vai, who whips out his signature shredding technique on the thundering, rapid fire "Terminal Show" and the sludgy "Down on Me." To Vai's credit, the legendary axeman adapts to Motorhead's style instead of showboating. Other surprises surface--the melodic guitar leads of "Keys to the Kingdom" set over a bed of strings without bass or drums, and the acoustic blues ditty with harmonica ("Whorehouse Blues") that brings INFERNO to a refreshingly low-key finish. The longest running line-up in Motorhead's history proves that old dogs may not always learn new tricks, but they can reinvent the old ones just fine.

Motörhead: Lemmy Kilmister (vocals, guitar); Phil Campbell (guitar, background vocals); Mikkey Dee (drums).

Additional personnel: Steve Vai (guitar).

This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.Rolling Stone (p.126) - 3 stars out of 5 - "INFERNO blazes ahead with the same full-bodied attack as on their early classics..."
Spin (p.108) - "12 remorseless slabs of punk-metal blues..." - Grade: B+
Alternative Press (p.132) - 4 out of 5 - "[P]ut it up against any screamo, hardcore or nu-metal...and the dividing line between the men and the boys comes into sharp focus."
Mojo (Publisher) (p.88) - 3 stars out of 5 - "[With] Lemmy's ever present rasp of defiance arriving over a collection of decent, sometimes very decent, rock'n'roll. There are tinges of the blues here, of punk and of metal..."

5 stars " Inferno" burns hot!!
KILLER c.d. -Picks up right where " Hammered" left off. Terminal show, Killers, Tragedy, this c.d. rips right down the line. My favorite right now is " Keys to the Kingdom ". I'm glad Lemmy ai'nt getting religion in his "old age"!!! The surprise of the disc is the last track " Whorehouse Blues " It sounds like nothing Motorhead has done before-but it sounds damn good!!!Buy it, play it, show the nu-metal dweebs what ROCK MUSIC really sounds like!!!

5 stars Careful when you Drive..
and listen to this CD. It is a blistering assault of metal that will push your foot to the floor ! Lemmy's awesome "gravel-pit" voice along with crunching guitars and thundering drums make every tune on this CD good. "In The Name Of Tragedy" - "In Year Of The Wolf" and "Smiling Like A Killer" are excellent - but every other song kicks butt ! "INFERNO" is excellent.

5 stars MOTÖRMUSIC ROCKS
It's a great CD. I love each and every song. Especially Terminal Show. I gotta say that each time they release a album, it just get's BETTER and BETTER. Inferno isn't as good as Hammered. BUT ANYWAY, INFERNO ROCKS!!! Best Albums : INFERNO, Hammered Joakim

5 stars Yes Lemmy Is God
As a previous reviewer said: Lemmy is indeed a God-like presence in heavy metal. Killers & In The Name Of Tragedy are some of their best stuff since Another Perfect Day! Lemmy's clever lyrics are vastly under appreciated and can stand toe-to-toe with anything Dylan has ever written. Buy This Now & See Motorhead Live (there is nothing else on Earth like a Motorhead show). Power to Lem, Phil, & Mickey!!!

4 stars Neat, good starter cd
Motörheads best cd in many, many years. I always get so disappointed when albums have really cool covers and album titles, but the music sucks. This is not the case with Inferno. From the first to the last, this cd makes you get up and dance, jump or whatever. If you're new to Motörhead and don't know what cd to start with, this would be a great first choice.

When it became known that "Fast" Eddie Clarke had split from Motorhead, heavy metal fans feared the end of this hard-living trio. But when it was announced that ex-Thin Lizzy guitarist Brian Robertson was joining drummer Phil Taylor and bassist/lead growler Lemmy, another typically styled Motorhead release could have understandably been anticipated. However, while 1983's ANOTHER PERFECT DAY was still unmistakably a Motorhead album, Robertson brought in with him some musical elements that caused quite a bit of controversy amongst longtime fans--most notably the subtle use of synthesizers. Still, such furious tracks as "Shine" and "Dancing on Your Grave" showed that this new line-up held promise. But ANOTHER PERFECT DAY would be the only Motorhead release to feature Robertson, as he exited after the subsequent tour (as did longtime ...

Dio Master Of The Moon CD  (2004)

Inferno
CD $9.99  4 stars Audio Samples
There's something about a post-millennium album cover that features a giant blue-horned minion of Satan in pre-pounce with an illuminated crystal ball in its leathery hand that simply warms the soul, and the fact that it adorns a record called Master of the Moon can mean only one thing: Dio. Unlike many in the aging metal community, Ronnie James Dio still possesses the same powerful voice that fueled the genre through its late-'70s and '80s heydays, and the reigning dark prince of Elfdom and two-time Black Sabbath frontman is still capable of writing a killer song or two. MOTM resembles earlier works like Last in Line and Sacred Heart in its ability to buffer those one or two great tracks with seven or eight forgettable ones. Luckily, it's the first one out of the gate, "One More for the Road," that packs the biggest wallop. Similar in attack to classics like "We Rock" and "Stand Up and Shout," it sets a breakneck pace for a record that gives up just minutes after the ...

It Never Rains In Southern California
Albert Hammond It Never Rains In Southern California CD  (1973)

Inferno
CD $10.35  3 stars Audio Samples
It Never Rains in Southern California is not only Albert Hammond's biggest solo hit, the album which spawned that Top Five smash was the best representation of the songwriter until his When I Need You album was released a few years later. The band is in a groove on this disc, and the songs are more happening than on the two immediate follow-ups, The Free Electric Band in 1973 and 1974's self-titled Albert Hammond. Songs like "Down by the River" and "The Road to Understanding" have more enthusiasm and spirit than the two succeeding albums. Albert Hammond, better-known as a songwriter for Jefferson Starship, Julio Iglesias, and Leo Sayer, among others, could have been a superstar on his own had he maintained the high level of songwriting exhibited on this disc. Though Mama Cass Elliot did a brilliant rendition of "If You've Gotta Break Another Heart" on her The Road Is No Place for a Lady album, that single was not embraced by the public as it should have been. The original version is here, along with the songwriter's take on his own "The Air That I Breathe." The Hollies would get a bigger hit out of this song than they had with "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother," but Hammond's version has more tenderness and more subtlety. It's great. "Listen to the World" has the singer preaching with a band who is rock-solid behind him. Dan Altfeld's co-production with Hammond and Michael Omartian's impeccable arrangements (Omartian was everywhere at this point in time) are captivating. The material Mike Hazelwood was writing with Hammond here is also top-notch. "If You Gotta Break Another Heart" keeps coming back as a brilliant pop classic that will someday top the charts ...

For a while, it seemed England's Thunder would follow in the footsteps of Def Leppard and conquer America with their melodic hard rock. But when faced with the ever more hostile musical environment of the early '90s (read: Seattle), all they managed were a number of incredibly well-produced albums and moderate success in their homeland.
