Closed Captioned; Standard Screen; Soundtrack English; Dolby Digital 5.1 Re This classic film noir is considered by many genre aficionados to be one of luminary Robert Siodmak's quintessential works. Burt Lancaster stars as a Steve Thompson, an honest, hardworking armored-truck driver who harbors a fatal love. Despite numerous warnings, He believes he can rescue his double-crossing ex-wife Anna (Yvonne DeCarlo) from the seedy underworld in which she's found herself. When Steve and Anna's tryst is discovered by her current husband (Dan Duryea), they convince the hoodlum that she met with Steve only to get his help in robbing an upcoming payroll shipment. Now the honest Steve must plan a real robbery or die. Featuring the film debut of Tony Curtis, CRISS CROSS is a taut, unforgettable crime-thriller based on a Don Tracy novel that would again be adapted to the screen as Steven Soderbergh's UNDERNEATH (1995). Film debut for actor Tony Curtis.
Additional cast: Esy Morales (Orchestra Leader); Tom Pedi (Vincent); Griff Barnett (Pop); Meg Randall (Helen); Joan Miller (The Lush); Edna M. Criss Cross Movie Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) Bad woman brings down a good man Movie was well done. The heist attempt was awesome including the shootout. Movie ended the only way it could. The internal conflict over whether he should keep his mouth shut and be a hero was great too. Submitted by bwealot (Eastern, PA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? For Your Film Noir Collection It has it all: The story of a somewhat naive young man who can't get a femme fatale out of his mind; great music; great post-WW2, intercity locations; and early work by Lancaster, DeCarlo, and even Tony Curtis, and they all look great! This is not the 1949 movie I wanted the 1949 Burt Lancaster movie, and I ordered this listing based on cheap price and given (wrong) synopsis; what I got was a 1992 movie. If you want the 1949 Lancaster movie, the picture will clearly show Lancaster and DeCarlo on dvd cover, not this one. It is more expensive. I told them, but they never fixed it. $9.69 This relatively little-known film is widely hailed by fans of the macabre. Truly ahead of its time, NIGHTMARE ALLEY is set in the gritty, surrealistic world of traveling carnivals, where eccentric people of all possible varieties interact on a daily basis. In a departure from his usual roles as the Hollywood leading man, handsome Tyrone Power plays a morally questionable circus apprentice determined to climb the carnival ladder no matter what the price. Powers shows immense range in what was arguably ...

Criss Cross movie DVD
$20.85 Created by acclaimed animators Kaori Naruse and Junichi Sato (SAILOR MOON, KALEIDO STAR), the magical-girl anime series PRETEAR borrows from CINDERELLA and SNOW WHITE for an utterly unique sci-fi fairy tale. The series centers around 16-year-old Himeno, who is perfectly happy-go-lucky until her widowed father remarries and moves them to his new wife's palatial island estate. With a stern stepmother and two new stepsisters who either taunt or ignore her, Himeno thinks that things can't get any worse until she is visited by seven mysterious men called the Leafe Knights. Led by the handsome but disdainful Hayate, the knights inform Himeno that she is a magical being with the power to help them battle the evil Princess of Disaster, who is spreading demon larvae in an effort to suck the world's lifeblood and destroy it. Eschewing the genre's typical cutesiness for truly innovative storytelling bolstered by gorgeous animation and exciting action sequences, PRETEAR is the rare magical-girl anime that appeals to both male and female viewers. This collection continues the series with three more episodes.
The title cleverly combines elements of the age-old fairy tales Cinderella (the heroine has a new family complete with a new stepmother and stepsisters) and Snow White (she finds friends, and romance, ...
