Gospel meets hip-hop in the shape of Detroit artist Deitrick Haddon's CROSSROADS, which, in addition to some fine worship music, boasts some slamming beats, from the bubbling rhythms of "7-Ds" to the Earth, Wind & Fire-like "U.N.I.T.Y." Haddon's smoothly assured vocals bring an Usher-like urgency to the redemptive "It's Over Now," while things take a more traditional turn on the majestic "God Didn't Give Up." Haddon is joined by Contemporary Christian music pioneer Reverend Rance Allen on "Had Not Been," which, in its old-school approach, recalls the Reverend Allen's roots as a Stax recording artist. Pastor and self-help guru Paula White assists with a few inspirational words on the Caribbean-inflected "Walls Are Tumbling." CROSSROADS is a soul-stirring mix of traditional gospel and urban R&B that adds to Grammy-winner Haddon's reputation as one of gospel's most talented performers.

Deitrick Haddon Crossroads Songs Crossroads Music Review Average Rating: (4.9 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Nice 2nd Project Hi ya'll! You know D is still the man. I really like this second solo project. I have been patiently waiting for it for about two years now. He has some really nice tracks on this one. If you don't have it, get it. While you're at it pick up Supernatural, and Live The Life(these are my favorites). Keep preachin' D!!!!! Submitted by themightyjoecotton (Grenada, MS) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
D Haddy does it again! This was a top notch follow up to his last award winning album "Lost and Found". I recomend bying both if you dont have them yet. You can tell by the music that this man is truly annointed and his music is a testimony to that. A lil hip hop, a lil reggea even, but pumped with the gospel! This album is sure to accomplish great things, and exceed your expectations. Submitted by python45 (Beacon, NY, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Excellent This album is excellent! LOVE it! I especially love the songs "What Love?",
"God is Good" (To this day I still dance like crazy to God is Good) and "Don't Wanna Let You Go". I wanna hear more songs like those. Submitted by DLynnw29 (Baltimore, MD) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
What a real DJ thinks DH is keeping Gospel alive and real. Finally a new young voice and style that is complete. It bridges the gap of old and new school and comes with annointing. Some gospel singers are just good singers, DH is a worshiper and leader as well as a fantastic singer. This is a must buy for any gospel fan new or old. $13.65 Mike Patton and fellow Ipecac resident Kaada's collaboration Romances dwells in the twilight zone where spooky and seductive meet. Both artists' work reveals a love of cinematic music: Kaada is an award-winning film music composer in his native Norway, and Patton has paid homage to great horror scores on Fantômas' Director's Cut. Romances is just as filmic as that album -- actually, the affection for the spooky, evocative and arranged is the biggest romance going on here -- but it is less noisy and intense, and more obviously melodic and playful than Director's Cut. "Invocation"'s creepily whimsical melody and choral voices, for example, recall Danny Elfman's work more than Fantômas' grislier sound. Patton's fondness for over-the-top theatricality tends to dominate Romances, particularly on the eight-minute "Aubade," ...

Crossroads songs
$10.39 Gospel singers are supposed to be vocally agile, and their performances are often technically impressive. But the best ones give you the impression that no matter how baroque and elaborate the performance, it's all being done in the service of God, not as a way of bringing glory to the singer. One of the big differences between gospel music and Christian pop music is that in Christian pop music there seems to be more of a tendency for the artist to draw attention to his or her own sensitivity and righteousness by means ...
