The story of a 1970s San Diego TV anchorman who feels threatened by a strong-willed female co-worker, the film ANCHORMAN is simultaneously a comic tour-de-force for leading man Will Ferrell and a gloriously farcical celebration of all the greatest excesses of the "Me Generation." The soundtrack appropriately collects period radio hits, including choice cuts from famous ladies men Tom Jones and Neil Diamond, together with Ferrell character Ron Burgundy's hilarious track-by-track introductions. Between nostalgic Top 40 shots of pop, R&B, and funk, the mustachioed newscaster details everything from altruistic love ("?if there was a way I could make love to the whole city, my drawers would be off and in a bunch on the floor in two winks of a coal miner's eye") to his love for the band Survivor ("Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bach, Beethoven...that's right, you guys suck"). A great '70s compilation even without the comedy, ANCHORMAN will undoubtedly put listeners in the mood for a little afternoon delight of their own.
Each track includes a spoken introduction by Will Ferrell.
Classic '70s Hits Plus Will Ferrell Comedy Bits From Film Anchorman Soundtrack Music Anchorman Soundtrack Songs Anchorman Soundtrack Music Review Average Rating: (3.5 out of 5 stars) what are you talking about! i agree the first time i listened to it, i thought the reviews were kind of stupid... but with each additional listen they get funnier and funnier, it is to the point where i can no longer listen to it in my car because i laugh too hard to drive. It makes absolutely no sense that you could like the humor of the movie and not the soundtrack, it is just more of the same GLORIOUS humor. BUY THE CD - with clever lines like "but it is no contest with catching fire while bar-b-queing drunk, believe me." and "just ask sir hall and sir oates...they were knighted weren't they, i'd bet even, even money that they were knighted." what isn't there to like.
on a scale from one to ten,i give it a rating of 11.awesome Submitted by jenny (CT, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 2 of 2 found this helpful.
@resnickr... @resnickr... well, it's a soundtrack to a movie, why were you expecting there to be *just* songs? I guess every crybaby needs something to complain about when they don't really think about what a soundtrack to a comedy will contain (besides "great tracks"). I thought his commentaries were funny, but I'm also not a huge fan of the soundtrack's music. Submitted by Casey (Denver, CO) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Classics ruined by Will... I bought this soundtrack because of the classic tracks on it BUT I had no idea that Will Ferrell would not only appear playing dj doing intros for EVERY tune, but that he would talk over them and in some cases blab on throughout the tunes! I didn't buy this to hear Will Ferrell. Funny guy in the movies, but not funny here. He single handedly ruined these old classics. Please, let's hope for a re-release without the Ferrel commentary. What were they thinking when they released this ridiculous collection of Will Ferrel stepped on tunes? Submitted by resnickr (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) Was This Review Helpful?
