 SHIRLEY BASSEY REMAINS A DIVA OF POP MUSIC!

 Bassey at her BEST
From the first note of 'Goldfinger' to the endless last note of 'This Is My Life', this performance is one of the best I have ever seen recorded of the ultimate diva, Dame Shirley Bassey. Forget dancing girls and boys, forget occasional furniture and stools for resting on, forget over the top lighting and costume changes every other number, when Bassey comes on stage she gives her all and make no mistake about it. Nothing distracts you from this tour de force of entertaining, singing in the way that only Bassey can, from the heart and from the hip and ultimately, through the roof. Move over Merman 'cos Bassey's sung "Showbusiness" like it's never been sung before. "Don't Cry Out Loud" is head and shoulders above any previous performance by Shirley or anyone else, "You Never Done It Like That" was a revelation to me, jazz, slink, sleeze and seduction all wrapped up and delivered in 3 minutes. She simultaniously belts and purrs her way through "And I Love You So" as never before. Every number is delivered flawlessly, she looks great (what a wig!!!) and she sounds better that she sounded years before when she recorded at St David's, Cardiff. It is hard to beleive it is the same voice. There must be many more performances of Bassey lying around in vaults the world over. She is a national treasure and these performances need saving for posterity. Long live Shirley Bassey
