Closed Captioned; Soundtrack English Sequel to 1976's "King Kong". In the finale of that film, Kong fell from the top of the Twin Towers onto the concrete below. Here, Kong is shown to have survived the fall, but is being kept alive via life-support and needs an artificial heart. Meanwhile, an adventurer in Borneo finds and brings to the U.S. a female Kong, since her blood will aid in the heart operation. Naturally the two apes meet, begin a romance -- and escape from captivity, creating chaos and destruction everywhere they go. But unfortunately for the simian sweethearts, the U.S. Army is hot on their trail...
Picking up where the 1977 version left off, "King Kong Lives" resuscitates the mighty ape through the miracle of modern medicine and brings him together with what will be the love of his life, Lady Kong. King Kong Lives video
$9.29 Recorded during a one-off 1997 reunion show, this vibrant live album featured the near original lineup of thrash metal pioneers Exodus; the only absent parties are original bassist Geoff Andrews and guitarist Kirk Hammet, who was probably tied up at his day job Metallica. Though it was almost certainly tweaked in the studio at a later date, the performance captured on Another Lesson in Violence sounds amazingly live and raw, containing furious renditions of the band's many early classics, screw-ups and all. The band wisely concentrates on material from their landmark debut Bonded ...
| | Emperor Emperial Live Ceremony CD (2000)
King Kong Lives film
$13.39 This is an Enhanced audio CD which contains regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.
As black metal's fully enthroned reigning kings, Emperor are truly an interesting, intriguing act, combining the soaring, operatic, orchestral sensibilities of classical music with the pomposity, technical skill, and brutality of various types of heavy metal. What emerges from that Norwegian cocoon is something entirely new, or if not entirely new, then a fully realized version of something that had been attempted by other acts. This live disc, which also incorporates multimedia -- a video for "I Am the Black Wizards" and Emperor screensavers -- was recorded and engineered during European touring for Equilibrium IX. Whether or not the tracks have been overdubbed -- after all, black metal is not an easy medium to work in -- remains fairly dubious. The drums have certainly been triggered, but whether additional vocals or guitars were cut, who knows. One ...
| | Quiet Riot - 89' Live In Japan DVD (1989)
King Kong Lives review
$7.15 89' Live in Japan was filmed during a tumultuous period for Quiet Riot. With Paul Shortino at the helm, the band quickly displayed their versatility and resilience, and rocked crowds the world over. This footage serves as a glimpse into an interesting chapter of one of the greatest Metal bands of all time. Bonus Video - "Stay With Me." Track list: Party All Night, I'm Falling, Stay With Me Tonight, Run To You, The Wild And The Young, The Joker, Drum Solo, Coppin' A Feel, King Of The Hill, Cum On Feel The Noise.
Taking the heavy metal world by storm in the early 1980s with their stadium-rock anthem "Cum on Feel the Noize," Quiet Riot's career mirrored that old adage epitomized by rock and roll: "live fast and die young." Rising quickly to heights of stardom that shocked both the public and the band themselves, their trajectory was fraught with obstacles that prevented them from assuming iconic status in rock history. Frontman Kevin DuBrow, who supremely embodied the rock star bad attitude with his loud mouth and quick temper, ...
| | Loudness Hurricane Eyes CD (1987)
King Kong Lives DVD
$9.69 Though it failed to equal the mostly novelty-based sales of Loudness' first internationally distributed album Thunder in the East, Lightning Strikes had handily managed to translate the band's Japanese-bred heavy metal into a more easily digestible recipe for Western audiences. Because this progress didn't translate into sales, however, their record company, Atco, felt the need to force the band's hand toward an even more pop-metal direction when it came time to record their next effort. Yet, while producer Max Norman's work on Lightning Strikes had merely served to trim the excess fat from Loudness' rather busy compositions, new hire Andy Johns would show no such restraint in his mission to completely disfigure the band's sound. 1987's misguided Hurricane Eyes was the result. With their generic riffs and big, dumb choruses, formulaic singles like "This Lonely Heart" and "Take Me Home" push the envelope of pop-metal overkill with tragic consequences, while full-throttle ...

King Kong Lives film
$10.25 One need not have any interest in basketball to be moved by Ward Serrill's incredibly moving, hypnotically riveting documentary. A HOOP DREAMS-style story transposed onto females in middle-class Seattle, THE HEART OF THE GAME follows a high school basketball team's trials and tribulations over six years. Though it follows a team, the film is ultimately the story of two unique, courageous, very different individuals--coach Bill Resler and star point guard Darnellia Russell. Resler, ...

| | Lolita DVD (1962)
King Kong Lives DVD
$14.39 Stanley Kubrick's adaptation of Vladimir Nabokov's controversial LOLITA is a wicked satire of sexual obsession, sadomasochism, and fetishism. When mild-mannered professor Humbert Humbert (James Mason) arrives in the small town of Ramsdale, New Hampshire, he is immediately set upon by his landlady, Charlotte Haze (Shelley Winters), and her adolescent daughter, Lolita (Sue Lyon). Although Humbert gets involved with Charlotte, it is Lolita with whom he becomes obsessed. When Charlotte sends her daughter away to summer camp (the aptly named Camp Climax), Humbert becomes consumed with jealousy. He finally takes Lolita out of camp and heads out alone with her. He is pestered along the way by Clare Quilty (played magnificently by Peter Sellers), who threatens to expose him. But nothing can break the hold Lolita has over Humbert.
From the opening credits sequence--a close-up of a man's hand (with a wedding ring) carefully polishing a young girl's ...
