HIGH PRIEST, from 1987, is a relaxed set of R&B-inflected songs, ten covers and five Chilton originals. The covers run the gamut from the known (Charlie Rich's "Lonely Weekends," Goffin-King's "Let Me Get Close To You"), to the obscure (Eve Darby's "Take It Off," Holiday Akopoff's "Make A Little Love"), to the left-field surprise ("Volare"). His own tunes include the enduring "Dalai Lama" and "Don't Be A Drag." Horns appear on a few numbers, but it's largely a rocking small combo of guitar, bass, piano and drums. BLACK LIST was originally released as an EP in 1990 and is wisely attached here, as it is a continuation of the approach and feel of HIGH PRIEST. The sessions were recorded in Memphis at Alex Chilton's favored studio, Ardent, and a warm live feel underscores the exuberant interplay of the assembled combo on the set that's divided evenly between covers and Chilton originals.
HIGH PRIEST/BLACK LIST includes 4 bonus tracks.
Recorded at Ardent Studios, Memphis, Tennessee.

High Priest / Black List songs
$13.89 Although the original lineup of the Byrds gets the most critical attention, and to the greatest extent it probably should, the fact remains that the late-era version of this band, the one that featured founding member Roger McGuinn and Clarence White on guitars, Skip Battin on bass, and Gene Parsons on drums, was the most stable one the group ever had, and by far the best live unit. Between 1969 and 1972 this incarnation of the Byrds recorded five albums ...

High Priest / Black List CD music
$14.38 Glitter and Doom Live, a double-disc set, marks Tom Waits' third live effort in his nearly 40-year career, each one summing up his career to the point of its release. The first, Nighthawks at the Diner issued in 1975 on Asylum, is regarded by many as one of the greatest live albums of all time. The second was Big Time, released during his tenure at Island in 1986. The musical performances on disc one of Glitter and Doom Live were culled from Waits' historic sold-out tour of the U.S. and Europe. He compiled and sequenced the set ...

In addition, there are tracks from other well-known yet rarely heard artists such as Jimmy Shand ("Bluebell Polka") and Rolf Harris ("Sun Arise"). The "Transports of Delight" on disc two highlight spoken-word and comedy sides produced by Martin ...
| | Bone Uses Wrist Grab CD (2003)
High Priest / Black List songs
$14.49 Musician, composer, and computer programmer Nick Didkovsky seems to have so many projects and possibilities rattling around in his cranium that his guitar-playing abilities tend to get overlooked. He uses interactive computer technology extensively in his Doctor Nerve group, and in their most recent recording, Ereia, he experimented compositionally with a combination of avant-rock band and string quartet. So this stripped-down trio album, recorded with longtime Soft Machine bassist Hugh Hopper and drummer John Roulat, is, in a sense, Didkovsky's equivalent of Frank Zappa's Shut Up 'N Play Yer Guitar series -- a chance for electric guitar enthusiasts to hear a great axeman at work in settings that are designed to bring his guitar front and center. However, Didkovsky's restless imagination ...

High Priest / Black List CD music
$16.99 This 24-track, single-disc comp packages together Brenda Lee's third and fourth albums, where she consolidated her new superstardom and displayed a versatility that enabled her to cross over to several different markets and age groups. Her third full-length, 1960's This Is...Brenda, was significantly above the average for a pop/rock LP of the era. The orchestrated Nashville production was lush but tasteful, Lee's singing unfailingly committed, and the material pretty strong, even if there was nothing else on the album as strong as its big hit, "I Want to Be Wanted." The record did lean more toward pop than rock, but it was clearly not either Nashville country or straight adult pop, even if ...
