Besides hardcore Sex Pistols fans, few know that Sid Vicious played a few solo shows in late 1978. With a set list comprised entirely of cover songs of proto-punk classics, and songs that the Sex Pistols either covered early on, or never got around to recording properly, anyone thinking that they'd get a live set of Sid originals was probably sadly disappointed. That said, such releases as 2004's Search & Destroy (which includes album artwork based on Sid's actual mug shot for the alleged murder of girlfriend Nancy Spungen -- taken the same year as this album's recording) show that although the ex-Pistols bassist may have been short on original material, he knew how to put together a rockin' good-time set. Included are such covers as Johnny Thunders' ode to heroin, "Chinese Rocks" and Eddie Cochran's "Somethin' Else," as well as "Belsen Was a Gas," a Pistols original that was penned towards the end of their tenure together. With few studio recordings actually featuring Sid (the majority of the bass on Never Mind the Bollocks was supplied by guitarist Steve Jones), the live performances documented on Search & Destroy (as well as a bonus cover of "My Way") are among the precious few surviving bits. ~ Greg Prato

Sid- licous Wicked Cd. For the people that think that there was nothing more to sid than that he was just a junkie, think what you wanna think . Theres more to a person than just what drugs they are on. He was a wicked musician and this cd captures his spirit.. A true recording in the sense that just because you cant hear the lyrics that well.. its like being at a live show. Absolutely amazing. The interview at the end is absolutely amazing. Its like listening to Sid like he's right there. almost wants to make u cry. rest in peace Richie Submitted by Natasha (Alberta, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Wow What a fantastic Cd. I love this even though Sid was hardly the best singer and the recording is not great this captures the essence of Sid. It's not just noise it's spirit and its Punk. if you don't like it Sod Off! Submitted by Thomas (Melbourne Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
very bad. This cd is terrible. It just sounds like a bunch of loud noise. Sid Vicious was a low-life heroin addict that killed his girlfriend. He was no real punk rocker, he was just a junkie. The Pistols were better before they had him anyway. Submitted by poo poo sandwich (the doo doo toilet) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Search & Destroy album
$11.99 Digitally remastered by Jim Phillips (Universal Mastering Studios West, North Hollywood, California).
Although it omits three songs from the far less comprehensive (and deleted) 1983 12-track Best Of, and doesn't include any live or post-A&M music, this 2000 release stands as the final word on the Ozark Mountain Daredevils' career. Cherry-picking 21 tunes from their five studio album stint circa 1974-1978 -- with the lion's share coming from their first three albums and only three selections from the final two -- this is pretty much all you'll need from the under-recognized band that worked in the '70s country-rock shadows of Poco and Firefall, but weren't as dependable or pop savvy as either. In fact, their biggest hit, the Hall & Oates, blue-eyed soul-styled "Jackie Blue," was so atypical ...

$13.45 Following the success of their self-titled debut, the Ozark Mountain Daredevils' sophomore release, It'll Shine When It Shines, continues on their already established path of California-style country-rock. This release contained what would ultimately prove to be their greatest hit, "Jackie Blue," which ended up peaking at number three on the pop chart. Although "Jackie Blue" is by far the least countrified ...

$11.39 Family Tree: Birds of a Feather(Mooreland Street MSG 1969)There's the Yardbirds' family tree, and then there's the Yardbirds' family tree, and in terms of having something fresh to listen to, one is a lot more enjoyable than the other. John Mayall, Cream, the Jeff Beck Group, Led Zeppelin - whatever is left to be said about the monsters that once took flight from the Yardbirds' nest? But step away from the antics of a few smart guitar slingers, and there's an underground swirling around the band's other members that rarely sees the daylight it deserves. In fairness, this is less a Family Tree collection, than an anthology of Jim McCarty's more recent, extra-curricular activities. The British Invasion All-Stars, the Yardbirds Experience and, of course, the Jim McCarty Band are the dominant names here, together with a clutch of McCarty-less highlights from the Ambulators' tribute to 'birds mentor Sonny Boy Williamson. Likewise, the 19 tracks turn up a mere handful of established Yardbirds classics ('Shapes Of Things,' of course, kicks it all off), preferring to mine the entire British beat repertoire of bluesy classics, R&B stompers and proto-rock howlers. The line-up across the four acts is phenomenal - Don Craine, Phil May, Dick Taylor, Eddie Phillips, Mick Green, Matthew Fisher, Ray Majors, Mick Avory, Dave Walker ! and that's just the names that your pet goldfish would recognize. Noel Redding leads one aggregation across a dynamic 'Jimi Hendrix Trilogy'; Pete French (ex-Cactus) ...
