This is an enjoyable sampler highlighting the Cascades' vocal hits from the early '60s for the Valiant label. This short collection provides a decent introduction to the group's best material, including the original versions of "Shy Girl," "The Last Leaf," and their only Top Ten hit from 1963, "Rhythm of the Rain." This budget-priced compilation will please both the fan and novice. ~ Al Campbell Cascades Rhythm Of The Rain Songs Rhythm Of The Rain Music Review Average Rating: (4.6 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews An eye opener, or maybe an ear opnener While I remember "Rhythm Of The Rain"
I don't remember any of the other songs
on this CD. Was I surprised to find
every song was hit with me. What ever
happen to this group. They have a sound
you cannot help but like if you love
60s sounds like I do. That was the best
decade of my life including the music.
If you are collecting sounds from the
60s this is a must have. Submitted by Larry (Ft Walton Bch, FL USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 2 of 2 found this helpful.
"Probably a Hidden Best of Album" I have played this cd more than fifty times.Must be a greatest hits in disguise. The rumor that all members died in an airplane crash is definitely unfounded.John Gummoe sounds like just Ricky Nelson.Believe it or not, this lp sold millions. Bringing back happy memories Brilliant CD of original songs from a bye-gone era. This is a fairly hard-to-find CD that I have been after for some while and few stock it. Famous mainly for their monster smash "Rhythm of the Rain", tyhis album is a must for any serious collector of sixties sounds. Get it whilst you can. | | Pet Shop Boys Fundamental CD (2006) (Import) Germany
Rhythm Of The Rain
$24.25 The cover of 2006's FUNDAMENTAL, the Pet Shop Boys' first studio outing since '02's RELEASE (not counting their BATTLESHIP POMTEMKIN project), is strikingly stark--seemingly solid black save for the band name and album title--though a closer look reveals the subtle images of Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe's faces. Any suggestions of anonymity or reinvention, however, are quickly jettisoned by the songs, which are very obviously the work of the British duo. Tennant's distinctively plaintive vocals and Lowe's soaring synth lines here recall their prototypical sound more than almost anything since the late 1980s. This is, at least in part, due to the group's reunion with dance-pop uber-producer Trevor Horn, who gives each track on FUNDAMENTAL a lustrous sheen, whether it's the surging club-ready tune "Minimal," the willfully melodramatic ballad "Numb," or the funky and fiercely political "I'm with Stupid" (a harsh criticism of Tony Blair and George W. Bush). A record that hints at past Pet Shop glories while remaining remarkably contemporary, FUNDMENTAL is synth-pop at its most irresistible. Working together for the first time since the 1988 single "Left to My Own Devices," the Pet Shop Boys and producer Trevor Horn partner together for Fundamental, an extremely well-crafted effort that is more of its time message-wise than any previous PSB album. Fundamental ...
