Japanese pressings are the best!
I know you spend ALOT MORE when you buy these discs, and my friends think I'm certifably insane for doing so, but until you've delved into the world known as true high-end audio, you really don't know (maybe don't care, thank you) about the quality of what you listen to. That's too bad because when you get better sound you'll listen to the music longer and get more enjoyment out of it. How many times have you gone to your cd collection and noticed, maybe, hundreds of discs go unplayed for years? Buy better sounding recordings: it will help, somewhat.

As usual, Japanese releases are of the highest quality and this is no exception. 37 classic "Oo" tracks. Unfortunately CD Universe listed this 2-disc set as coming with the bonus disc. When it arrived, suprise - no bonus disc. So if you're expecting a bonus disc with this set look elsewhere.

This is by far the best album put together
I have heard hundreds and hundreds of rock band albums and I believe that this album tops them all. I think this album puts the The Who above the greats like the Beatles, Led Zepplin, Rolling Stones, ect. If you are just starting to enjoy the greatness of the Who or has been a fan and you don't have this album, I advise that you get this and not The My Generation album because althought that album is great, it lacks some great songs like Eminence Front, Behind Blue Eyes, Bargin, and more.

Well, it's About Time....!
Okay,so the rule of thumb with "Greatest Hits" packages is that about half of it is really great stuff and the other half makes you wonder what the record company guys were on when they assembled it. And then you have to wonder what happened to all the other great stuff they left off. Well, it did NOT happen this time. Every song on this TRUE "ultimate Collection" is a winner. Die-hard fans may find one or two vital songs missing ("The Relay", "We're Not Gonna Take it"), but hey, it's not a perfect world. Just look at all the gems that are included here! Think of it as the poor man's boxed set.

The Who's Best Compilation
This is truly the best "best of" album by The Who. A great selection of tracks, guaranteed to make a "new Who fan" explore the group even further. Personally, I would have included "Young Man Blues" from "Live At Leeds".

FULL HISTORY OF THE WHO!
If you want a full history of The Who this is the CD for you. It has all of the best songs from "Face Dances" and "It's Hard" which you will not normaly find on a Who collection. The bonus CD is nice too.

Not half bad
Well...this is OK for someone WHO doesn't have the original albums and just wants the radio staples. For the real deal, Tommy,Live at Leeds,Who's Next and Quadrophenia are all 'greatest hits" in their own right. Do not except SUBSTITUES.

"The Ultimate Collection" Sums this Album Up!
GREAT The Who collection. Unbelieveable amount of songs for a 2-CD set, and all are incredible. If you like The Who -- silly me, you can't not like The Who -- you will buy this album! My favorite songs are Baba O'Riley and Sister Disco, but all of the songs are completely, insanely good. If you can only own one The Who album, this is the one to own!! Get it now!

THE BEST!!!!!
We all know that the who are great but this album put's them at the top. I know you may think I'm crazy when I say this but I think that that the who are better then famous bands like The Beatels, Rolling stones (bones), aned more.

a really good collection
This is a really good CD if you are just getting into the Who. This is the first one I got. Then of course, i went and bought almost all of the normal who albums. Plus, this CD has alot of hard to find songs like (My all time favorite) "Substitute" and (My 2nd all time favorite) "I'm A Boy". The only problem is that on the 2nd CD it has alot of junk from the Who Are You and post-Keith Moon days.

The Best of the Best!
The Who, in my humble opinion, is by far the best band to come out of the Brittish invasion, and even the best band from Englad period. The power of Daltrey's vocals, Kieth's thunderous drums, the virtuosity of Entwistle's bass playing, and not to mention the genius of Pete Townshend's song writing, and his incredible guitar playing, is amazing. In the 'Holy Trinity' of 60's Brittish rock (The Who, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones), The Who is the best of them all. This collection spans their entire career, ranging from from their mod-rock hits such as 'I Can't Explain,' and 'My Generation,' to the quirky 'I'm A Boy,' and 'Boris The Spider,' to classic 'rock-god' hits like 'Pinball Wizard,' 'The Seeker,' 'Summertime Blues,' 'Baba O'riley,' 'Bargain,' 'Behind Blue Eyes,' 'Won't Get Fooled Again,' 'The Real Me,' '5'15,' 'Love Reign O'er Me,' and 'Who Are You,' and that isn't even half of the CD. Buy this CD, and get lost in the opening synth lines of Baba O'riley, and enjoy, "a nice little group from Shepherd's Bush, London-The 'Oo."

Truly Ultimate
The Who has created an album with the most prominent songs of their career and appropriately entitled it “The Who’s-Ultimate Collection CD.” The album is made up of two-CD’s and as an added bonus a CD that includes tracks from the band that have never been released. Complete with songs like “My Generation,” “Baba O’ Riley” and “Pinball Wizard,” The Who created an album that epitomized a time of happiness, freedom and of course- Peace. Although the classic rock icons experienced the passing of a true legend, bassist-John Entwistle, they are still going strong, while at the same time left their fans with an incredible CD filled with pure soul and energy. Overall “The Who’s-Ultimate Collection CD” is a timeless album that will leave you feeling good.

Succinct summary
This is among the best of the available compilations of The Who. The song selection leaves little to argue about, and everything has been remastered with excellent sound with full length versions instead of singles. This is about all the average listener will need, and will point new fans to other albums to explore.

NOT AGAIN...
Yet ANOTHER greatest hits CD by The Who. It is very very tiring seeing year after year another greatest hits package by the band...re-cycling the same hit songs in just a different form. Don't get me wrong...I love The Who, but will will this all end???

Terrible Mastering or it's my speakers/polk 70's
I finally played this cd and the bass is overpowering and muddy and the entire cd is remastered LOUD,LOUD!,. The remastering of this album took a lot of liberties. Buy The Who/ Who's better,Who's Best cd the AAD version for a bit more realism to the original sound.I just played the same songs from both albums and am now throwing the Ultimate Collection in the trash. This must have been made for the license plate rattling generation, quite terrible sounding to me.

sound distorted - avoid!
A friend of mine bought this CD and upon a couple listens and comparisons to older remasters and CDs, we could easily hear major sound distortion. The sound is tinny, shrill and loud. The distinctive keith moon sound is just way off. Really pretty annoying actually. Maybe ok in a car stereo or ipod but any moderately respectable stereo system will show this to be a major disappointment. There are other best of compilations...like meaty big and bouncy and who's better who's best that are far superior in sound quality. They really screwed this one up. But if you hold out, I'm sure there will be another compilation to follow in a year or two. It is the Who! :)

This Import Version Rocks!
For the real The Who fan, you have got to find this unit; it's worth every extra penny. It contains extra songs, better packaging with a tri-fold digi-pack plus come with the 3rd disc with two video's. It even just seems to sound better than the US Version.

A FRIEND ASKED THE FOLLOWING - IT SAYS IT ALL I THINK . . . "What do you think of the new Who collection? A fairly impeccable selection of songs, but something you or I could have done in our sleep, right? "Call Me Lightning" is perhaps the only surprise. I always liked that song -- it wasn't released here but I had the British Direct Hits. How about the sound? I'm only about half way thru disc 1. No revelations yet -- looks like that will have to wait for the stereo Shel Talmy CD. Have you A-B'd any of the early things? I may try to do that tonight. I assume the mastering is similar to the box set. See for Miles is the stereo mix -- too bad, they coulda put the mono on the bonus disc. Too bad that Relay was left off -- would have been a good opportunity to put those four post Who's Next singles together. Disc 1 is only 67 minutes!" AGREED 100% - BUT STILL WORTH HAVING . . . JUST WISH THEY'D GIVEN IT A BIT MORE THOUGHT AND CARE
