When two Texas border guards unearth the skeletal remains of a man at the wheel of a jeep with $800,000 in cash by his side, there's more than money at stake. Suddenly they find themselves caught up in a conspiracy that stretches from Washington D.C. to the Dallas Police Department and will lead them both to the deadly truth behind the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Kurtwood Smith, Kris Kristofferson, Jean Smart, Kevin Conway, Miguel Ferrer, Rip Torn, Tess Harper, and Treat Williams star. Logan and Ernie are border patrolmen who discover a skeleton, a crashed jeep and $800,000 buried in the desert. While the duo debate whether or not to keep the loot, suspicious government agents move in on them. Bobby Logan (Kris Kristofferson) and Ernie Wyatt (Treat Williams) are burnt-out Texas border patrolmen in danger of losing their jobs when they find a 1960s-era jeep buried in the desert along with human remains, a rifle, and $800,000 in cash. Cynical Logan wants to take the money and run, but idealistic Wyatt persuades him to conduct a secret investigation first. The partners' detective work soon leads them to startling evidence connecting the jeep to the JFK assassination--with federal agents hot on their trail and eager to do anything it takes to keep the discovery a secret. This taut, little-seen political thriller is bolstered by Tangerine Dream's moody, atmospheric score and a strong supporting cast that includes Rip Torn, Kevin Conway, Kurtwood Smith, Miguel Ferrer, and Jean Smart. Rated BBFC 15 by the British Board of Film Classification.

Flashpoint Movie Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) YES ON DVD very happy to see this on dvd. the desert scenes are brought to life with this dvd release.great movie and great story! Submitted by cobrafunk (EDMOND, OK) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Interesting Premise but shallow presentation Some truly fine actors here, but ultimately this movie smells of failure: it has that cheezoid, superficial made-for-television feel that just leaves you fidgeting in your seat. It's also grossly irresponsible to further muddy the waters of American history by tossing in yet one more Kennedy conspiracy theory, and to stir up the sort of cynical and unfounded beliefs of '70s era potheads that all government security types are nothing more than amoral mercenaries.
If you truly want some enlightenment on this subject, and not just titilation, read Gerald Posner's landmark book, "Case Closed." Submitted by Alek Hidell (Snakewater, WY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 0 of 1 found this helpful.
HIGHLY UNDERRATED MOVIE first off the soundtrack features TANGERINE DREAM and it sets the tone for the entire movie , what a performance!!! Treat Williams does a super job of playing the all-american border patrol agent who is about to lose it because of all the changes happening within the border patrol, and with trying to nail drug runners. This movie has some great cinematography of the open desert and add to that an intriguing story of what might have happened after the kennedy assasination. also RIP TORN as the local sheriff puts in a great performance as only RIP can. I just wish it was out on dvd. Submitted by cobrafunk (EDMOND, OK) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.
