The album's title track (and lead single) finds Lloyd paired with the sultry Ashanti on a serenely soft ballad that includes a touch of vocoder. Lloyd shows that his youth should not be mistaken for ignorance on a deft interpolation of Slick Rick's classic "Hey Young World," here titled "Hey Young Girl." And on "Sweet Dreams," Lloyd coyly and expertly mixes the innocence of nursery rhymes with darker passions. This duality defines Lloyd and makes his debut an intriguing listen.
R&B crooner Lloyd began his career at a young age as one-fourth of N-Toon, a pre-teen vocal group that became popular on the Disney Channel. That future arrived for the Atlanta singer in a most powerful way with his debut, SOUTHSIDE. Signed to Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. label, the 18-year-old Lloyd smoothly works his way through hip-hop-infused songs of seduction.

According to Aaron Hall, Adults Only is not a comeback (fair enough), is very different from his past work (not exactly), and is his final album (we'll see). It's Hall's third album in 13 years -- not counting the Guy reunion affair from 2000 -- so it's possible he wasn't all that enthusiastic about his solo career to begin with. So is there any reason for you to get worked up? Not really, unless the sound of Hall's voice turns you on in any context. Adults Only's half-hearted feel and messy, try-everything approach (almost all the up-to-date tricks are attempted) easily makes it the least of his solo albums. Lyrically, Hall is raunchier than ever, though he's never flat-out vulgar. Even so, there's at least a dozen "oh, please" moments that could send you racing for Guy, The Future, and The Truth. This is confused, uneven, and awkward, exemplified best by a sappy cover of Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven" that immediately follows a song about his endurance in the sack. ~ Andy Kellman

GHETTO CLASSICS is Jaheim's third effort, an album heavily rooted in traditional R&B, and also one of his strongest. Don't be misled by the "traditional" tag, however. Like most contemporary R&B, Jaheim's music is deeply influenced by hip-hop, and the layered, top-tier production from KayGee (of Naughty by Nature) gives this album a smart, sophisticated sheen that is undeniably 2006. The appearance of rapper Jadakiss on the single "Everytime I Think About Her" further updates the sound.
But the ghost of Marvin Gaye is certainly milling about GHETTO CLASSICS in the form of the smooth, sensual vibe, the album's themes (love songs about commitment, devotion, and family), and in Jaheim's expressive, well-controlled romantic croon. These songs came to me during the years that I was discovering how to create relationships based on two whole, healthy people relating to each other rather than on the “two halves make a whole” idea. I was deepening my connection to Spirit and to the Earth and the insights they brought me have served me well during some personally extremely challenging times.I’ve discovered through the years that I’m a “songcatcher” rather than a performer. I absolutely love receiving a new song and creating a form for it, working with it, arranging it, sharing it occasionally when it speaks to people and the processes they are experiencing in their own lives. To me "catching" a song is like unwrapping layer after layer of a wonderful present, discovering what IT wants to be.My intention in sharing these songs is to support all of you who are going through your own big life changes and shifts and explorations in your relationships to other people, to Spirit, to your soul, and to the Earth. These are powerful and empowering songs that I think could benefit lots of people who are opening and growing. I hold a vision of them being discovered by true performers who can get them out to the world in a much bigger way than I can.All these songs were originally recorded in my home studio back in the days of tape cassettes and I recently had them converted to CD format so that they wouldn’t be completely lost. Rainbow Bridge (1996) - a dream in which the man and the woman had to let go of all the old heavy stuff they each carried in order to become light enough to walk out and meet each other on the Rainbow Bridge.Free To Be Me (1990) - a dream in which I ran full tilt towards a man imagining that he would catch me and keep me safe and take care of me, only to find that he used my momentum to lift me up so that I went soaring through the air, landing on a concrete slab, shaken but unhurt. This dream came after I had invited a new (male) friend to offer a joint concert with me and he refused, saying that was “my thing”, not his.
