Anne Hathaway stars in this fairy-tale adventure for the hero in all of us. Similar to SHREK and THE PRINCESS BRIDE, this fantasy adventure, based on a book by Gail Carson Levine, combines fairy tale with sly, 21st century pop humor. Teenage Ella (THE PRINCESS DIARIES' Anne Hathaway) lives in Frell, a magical place where humans, fairies, ogres, and other mythical folk peacefully coexist. However, when power-mad Prince Regent Edgar (Cary Elwes) passes laws that segregate humans from everyone else, Ella becomes determined to win equal rights for all. This task presents a challenge for anyone, but especially for Ella, who at birth was given the dubious gift of obedience by Lucinda (Vivica A. Fox), a fairy with an attitude. When she finds an ally, and love interest, in the almost-king Prince Charmont (Hugh Dancy), she invokes the ire of her witchy stepsister Hattie (Lucy Punch), who has figured out that Ella must obey any command. Between avoiding her stepsister, trying to break the spell, and restoring justice to the kingdom, will Ella find time for true love?
The talented cast, featuring Eric Idle, Minnie Driver, Joanna Lumley, and Jimi Mistry, play up the jokes, including heartthrob posters of Prince Charmont from "Medieval Teen" magazine and a Middle Ages mall. Contemporary music, including songs sung by star Hathaway such as "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing," and riotously colorful dance numbers, complement the anachronistic humor. With its mix of SLEEPING BEAUTY, CINDERELLA, and classic teen irony, ELLA ENCHANTED provides a timeless heroine. Ella Enchanted Reviews: "[T]he sharpest jokes in this cheerily pudding-colored-looking production are visual..."-- Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly "Ms. Hathaway is an appealingly gangly, dark-eyed beauty with a streak of natural vivacity that recalls 1940's actresses like Ann Sheridan and Linda Darnell."-- Dave Kehr, New York Times "[T]he film gains momentum as it goes along."-- Kevin Thomas, Los Angeles Times "[Hathaway] really is quite talented..."
-- Glenn Kenny, Premiere ELLA ENCHANTED is enchanted, all right....It's a high-spirited charmer, a fantasy that sparkles with delights. A lot of the fun is generated because it takes place in a world that is one part CINDERELLA, one part SHREK, and one part THE PRINCESS BRIDE."-- Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times "A couple of musical sequences are beguiling..."

Ella Enchanted Movie Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) A very cute take on the "Cinderella" story I thought this movie was very quick. I had avoided it for a long time because I was tired of the onslaught Disney movies with Hillary Duff, Lindsey Lohan and Anne Hathaway. But I watched it on accident one day, and thougt it was adorable. I think most people would like this. Submitted by Lisa (Portland, OR) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

If you love... Hot looking girls with great racks, then this is the film for you. Anne Hathaway may be covered up but the outfits she wears leave little to the imagination. 5 Stars! Submitted by Mohammed Rubenstein (Astoria, NY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Sweet Film It's a tuneful twist on fairy tales which young girls (especially) will delight in.
It's visually vibrant, with a *very* talented cast.
The tongue-in-cheek jokes will keep the adults amused as well.
The movie also teaches children to have a healthy self-respect in oneself and trusting in your instincts.
I thought it was a sweet film.

Ella Enchanted movie DVD
$10.29 With the release of Robert Altman's M*A*S*H in 1970, a new form of comedy was born, one that would help to forever change the face of cinema. Altman's audacious film reflected the American counterculture's growing distrust of religion and government in the late 1960s and early 1970s, resulting in one of the biggest box office smashes of its time. Introducing the techniques he would employ throughout his storied career--overlapping dialogue, a constantly moving camera with a heavy amount of zooming, and a bold combination of frank subject matter with cynical humor--Altman immediately vaulted himself to Hollywood's upper ranks. Based on the novel by Richard Hooker, M*A*S*H follows a group of Mobile Army Surgical Hospital officers as they perform surgery and pass the time just miles from the ...

Ella Enchanted movie DVD
$9.69 In Tim Burton's EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, a suburban fairy tale with incredibly imaginative sets, an Avon lady, Peg Boggs (Dianne Wiest), discovers the half-finished experiment--a man/monster named Edward (Johnny Depp)--of a mad scientist (played magically by Vincent Price) living in the neighborhood's old abandoned castle. The scientist died before replacing the shy man's large shears with real hands. When Peg attempts to bring Edward into her suburban world, to live among her skeptical family (husband Alan Arkin and daughter Winona Ryder) and gossipy neighbors, his hands--dangerous yet capable of creating things of great beauty--make for some awkward, funny, and poignant situations: Edward as a topiary gardener, Edward as a cutting-edge hair stylist. EDWARD SCISSORHANDS is a story about tolerance, difference, and creativity as much as it is a story of a young man's coming of age (the young man in question ...
