Though the Corrs are seldom mentioned without commenting on the sibling quartet's strikingly good looks, there's no doubt that the Irish musicians' energetic hybrid sound more than justifies their worldwide superstar status. Composed of ultra-catchy modern pop with intermittent dollops of traditional Celtic music, the group's style evokes an unlikely pairing of ABBA and the Chieftains. With BORROWED HEAVEN, the band focuses primarily on the radio-ready side of its musical equation, but still flawlessly blends tin whistle, Irish fiddle, and bodhran into the mix. On several tracks, the Corrs expand their palette even further, adding hip-hop-style production on "Humdrum" and a touch of Africa on the title track with a guest spot from Ladysmith Black Mambazo. As usual, Andrea Corr's sensual voice is the album's focal point, and on the jazzy Bono/Gavin Friday-penned "Time Enough for Tears," she melds the best vocal qualities of Marilyn Monroe and Norah Jones.
Australian edition of 2004 album features the bonus track 'Miracle'. Atlantic.Entertainment Weekly (p.123) - "[T]his is quality Europop, with the sunny 'Summer Sunshine' a natural hit..." - Grade:B Borrowed Heaven Music Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) different direction for the corrs this album was produced by olle romo, and i can tell. i was a big fan of poe's 1995 album "hello". you can hear the similarities. but the classic corrs sound is not lost on all tracks. there is no bonus cd with this purchase anymore, it must have been a first-press run. but for the price, this is the better buy. Borrowed Heaven album
$38.49 DREAMS is a 4-CD box set compiling in chronological order tracks by the Allman Brothers Band, as well as tracks by bands featuring one or more member of the Allman Brothers Band and solo performances by Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts.
Recorded between 1966 & 1988. Includes a 32-page illustrated booklet and liner notes by John Swenson.
Like nearly all box sets, DREAMS has plenty to recommend it-and a few nagging drawbacks. The set's chief shortcoming is its two conflicting goals: providing an overview of the Allmans' history, thus attracting buyers seeking the ultimate hits package, and including enough unreleased tracks and rarities to appeal to the band's most devoted fans. As a result, DREAMS ...

Borrowed Heaven CD music
$15.95 This compilation contains 38 songs, including many new remixes from original master tapes, 6 previously unreleased songs, alternate versions of 3 others, and a comprehensive 36 page booklet, with historic liner notes and photos.
This excellent two-disc collection captures Poco's finest moments from the days when they were laying down the template for all the country-rock music that was to follow. It's hard to remember, but when the Eagles first hit the scene, they were thought by many to be a Poco-wannabe band. Listen to this set and you'll hear why. The Forgotten ...

Released to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of the first Doors album, THE VERY BEST OF THE DOORS supercedes all former Doors compilations. At two discs and 34 tracks, this is quite comprehensive for a band whose key lineup released only half a dozen albums. In addition to all the expected hits like "Light My Fire," "Hello I Love You," and ...

| | Sex Pistols 76 Club CD (1985) (Import) Netherlands
Borrowed Heaven album
$17.95 Any Sex Pistols audio from the 1970s has been held in reverence because of the lack of recorded output from the band. Countless live bootlegs, B-sides, and lost tracks have popped up on albums since their self-destruction in the late '70s. Anarchy in the UK: Live at the 76 Club, one of the many live albums, is taken -- as the title suggests -- from a much-bootlegged show at the 76 Club in England. Featuring bassist Glen Matlock (who is light years better than Sid Vicious) and a very young Johnny Rotten on vocals, the band was just starting to grow into their skin and make some hardcore punk rock at this point. Many covers fill out the set, but early favorites like "Submission" and "Anarchy in the UK" appear in virtually the exact same form they would on Never Mind the Bollocks Here's the Sex Pistols. The sound quality is rough, with the drums blurring into one percussive mess while the guitar bleeds harsh treble throughout the recording. The band seems relatively low key on this album, holding their barbed insults and stage antics while delivering a non-stop barrage of classic punk rock. This makes for some good renditions of the tracks, but also points out the obvious flaws in the sound. There was never a truly great Sex Pistols live document, but at least this offers some rare tracks and a view of the band before the infamy and back-stabbing set in. ~ Bradley Torreano
At last, the final statement on the Sex Pistols' Burton-on-Trent gig from 1976. This release surpasses both prior releases -- The Original Pistols Live and The Best of & the Rest of the Original Pistols -- in terms of completeness and even unearths the "lost" track "Satellite." This CD catches the early version of the group during a raw epiphany, which seems to be more appropriate to the punk ethos than the overly polished yet brilliant Never Mind the Bollocks. At this point, Glen Matlock was still the group's bassist, although the fact that he could actually play his instrument, unlike successor Sid Vicious, had no audible impact on this gig. The sound is slightly muddy but overall very good -- such a seminal gig by punk pioneers would sound odd ...
| | Emile Pandolfi Rhapsody In Blue CD
Borrowed Heaven CD music
$12.59 A poet of popular music, November 1, 2005 Emile Pandolfi plays show tunes, movie music, and the Great American Song Book, like no one else. He even includes the occasional classical selection, which is inevitable, as he is a classically trained artist in the traditional sense. Pandolfi's dexterity at the keyboard is highly polished; yet one hardly notices. One does notice his gorgeous tone, which seemingly knows no depth; his pianissimo playing, which I can tell you, reaches all the way to the back of the hall; his massive fortissimos, which always leave the impression that he has more to give; his melting legato touch, which makes the piano sound like anything but a percussive instrument; and his seemingly limitless imagination. Once you've heard Pandolfi's presentation of a song, it will be difficult for you to imagine it any other way. Partly, this results from his own imagination: he is able to listen to music and lyrics with such freshness, even to the punctuation of lyrics, that he understands what many of us pass over. Then, he brings the resources of his technique, his sound-all his musical training and experience-to bear on the story in his mind. But not ...
