| Nice Nice cd but not one of my favorites of Marvin Gaye. By annecw (Philly, Pa.) This review is for a different format. |
| One CD YOU Must have in Your Collection! If You only have Two CD's in Your collection "LET'S GET IT ON" must be one of them, it is once again Marvin Gaye at his best as a follow up to "What's Going On" which as an album changed the thinking of The World Record Industry. The opening title track everyone knows! "Let's get it on" but listen to This Man's Heart and Soul in "Please Stay" and "If I should Die Tonight" Go on order it NOW! - 8 Super Tracks and the Digital Remaster Work is FIRST CLASSS!!! | Better than expected?!? That's an understatement! "Let's Get It On" is considered by many to be one of the best soul albums ever recorded. The title track is a classic, but is "Distant Lover" and "Come Get to This" and "You Sure Love to Ball" are not that far behind. Marvin Gaye did a tremendous job with sweeping ballads such as "Just to Keep You Satisfied." This album is soulful, sensual and simultaneously delightful and sinful at the same time. More than 30 years later, "Let's Get It On" is still the standard for the album you play for romance and tremendous singing. By amycj (Shelby, NC) This review is for a different format. |

| Astounding Unreleased Sides! 'Let's Get It On' is a work of rare genius, but to hear the groovy unreleased Willie Hutch produced tracks, especially the incredible 'I'm Gonna Give You respect' is a revelation for sure. The fact that these sides haven't been released until now is a mystery to me. I was also impressed with the wonderful renditions of 'Just To Keep You Satisfied' by The Originals and The Monitors respectively. The Marvin Gaye produced "I Love You Secretely' performed by The Miracles is a hauntingly beautiful ballad performed in the old blow harmony style popularized by Harvey Fuqua's Moonglows in the fifties. 'Where Are We Going?' and 'The World Is Rated X' demonstrate Marvin's political concerns which are as relevant as ever, especially after the horror of September 11th. For any one who wants to appreciate vocal style and harmonic technique, this album is a masterclass. Soul never sounded so good!
