"Crunk" is generally defined as a combination of crazy and drunk, a Southern expression for getting rowdy. The six members of Crime Mob are up to their ears in crunk on their self-titled debut, thanks to a combination of party-ready jams and a biting lyrical flow. Mixing it up with two female MCs and twice as many guy rappers, CM's smash "Knuck if You Buck" and its hard beats exemplify their first outing. Quicksilver rhymes are the rule of thumb, ranging from the ominous "If You Got Ana" to the neighborhood shout-out "Ellenwood Area." Not surprisingly, there's no lack of swagger as the threats and boasts fly throughout the self-explanatory "I'll Beat Yo Azz," before the guys give way to the ladies, who take front and center with the sassy and sharp "Stilettos (Pumps)," with its slow-rolling beat and hint of keyboards.

Young artists in need of a liitle growth. This album almost sounded like some old gangsta rap from some rappers from Memphis. i do admit that i loved that old Triple Six, Tommy Wright, etc, but i think that they are outdated now. I think that Crime Mob is talented, but in order to blow up nationwide, they will need to do somethin' unique. Right now they sound a little old school to me, but girl with the dreads is tight. Crime Mob
$12.65 Dem Franchize Boyz describe their music as "laid-back crunk." While this could seem a bit redundant, as crunk can be quite hazy music, the four rappers from (where else?) Atlanta steal a bit of a page from the slow, "screwed-up" Houston acts, backing up their claim with lazy abandon on their self-titled debut. From their opening declaration, "Where I'm From," the beats are sparse, understated, and undeniably absorbing, as simple and comfortable as the white T-shirts which are the trademark of the Boyz. The virtues of said garment are extolled on the foursome's single, "White Tee," a track boasting a sinister keyboard straight ...

$10.09 With TRAP MUZIK, Georgia rapper T.I. boldly established himself as a young rapper to watch and a sought-after guest artist. As if to cement his stardom, T.I. opens his third record, URBAN LEGEND, with one of the most famous declarations in the history of hip-hop, Run-DMC's "I'm the kiiiing," building the assured track ("Tha King") around a sleek "Hit It Run" sample. On that song, T.I. wanders ...

$22.35 Quantic producer Will Holland is that rare figure in dance music -- a two-way threat. As a producer and programmer, he's capable of innovating even while following closely along stylistic guidelines (his include Brazilian jazz, Afro-beat, and funk). That he's also a musician, capable of anchoring a section with bass or guitar and soloing on tenor or organ, is far too much to ask for -- most acts can't manage both even when the responsibilities are spread among several bandmembers. This third Quantic full-length bests the previous two (no small feat), powered by Holland's deep grooves, deft beats, able musicianship, and best of ...

Also, check out Tony Oliveri's previous bands...Cows and God Bullies.LIKEHELL...the band... Seeing Likehell perform live is like being at a party in Hollywood’s underground. It’s 4 a.m. The dark and brooding are mixing with the mischievous and wild. The beautiful walk among the depressed. It’s a blur of all things carnal, experimental, glamorous and psychotic. Around every corner is another mesmerizing scene, another form of satiation, another potential explosion. Formed in 1994 by brothers Nick Eldorado (vocals) and Tony Oliveri (drums), and longtime friends Frank Throwup (bass) and Matt Bockley (guitar), Likehell is a band that defies categories. Its music is a merger of such genres as heavy metal, glam, psychopunk, ‘70s anthem rock and even a little bit of burning-through-the-desert-in-a-dusty-Cadillac country, and lyrics that are direct and deadpan. The hard driving backing of Oliveri, Throwup and Bockley serves as a catapult for the always theatrical Eldorado, a sexy, cherub-faced madman who is mellow one second, desperate and explosive the next. The band’s tight-knit history and common philosophy that the show is the antecedent to the ‘biz’ combines to form a cool and easy, creative and ferocious stage presence that makes for a raucous and unpredictable live performance. An underground band at its heart, Likehell has nonetheless stepped into the spotlight since its inception, sharing the stage with an impressive array of bands, including The Cult, Beck, Iggy Pop, Soul Asylum, Motorhead, Queens of the Stone Age and Buckcherry. Over the years, the band’s hard work, diverse appeal and reputation for incredible live performances have earned them a loyal following of fans, who come from all corners of the music spectrum and will continue to cross genre lines to witness the rock ‘n’ roll spectacle that is Likehell.LIKEHELL...the movie...
