Originally titled "Day of the Woman," This special Millennium Edition DVD is truly a masterpiece of cinema. Jennifer Hills, a magazine writer from New York City who retires to a secluded cabin in the woods to write her first novel is brutally assaulted and raped and left for dead by 4 "country boys." But Jennifer is alive.......and seeks revenge. A woman staying at a remote lakeside house is raped by repeatedly by four men. Afterwards, she hunts them down and seeks brutal -- and very bloody -- revenge. Jenny (Camille Keaton, granddaughter of Buster Keaton), a New Yorker who goes to a secluded country retreat to finish work on her novel, is, one day, assaulted, raped and left for dead by four men. But she survives to take revenge. She seduces each of her rapists separately and personally performs their painful executions. Okay first up, this movie was made in 1978. So expect 2 things...
* 70's camp
* A tame movie
In the same way the original Chansaw Massace is now 'tame', so is this. **Do not believe the hype*** stating this movie has 'brutal' rape scenes or revenge scenes.
The rape scenes are laughable. Laughable because of the cheesy extreme close up shots, the wooden acting (by all actors), and the low production values. Cheap make up effects. Cheap sets, cheap wardrobe. Cheap cheap cheap.
The revenge scenes are just as laughable. Once again, wooden acting, low production values... and, well... the scenes are entirely predictable.
The best parts of the movie are really where Camille Keaton takes revenge, she makes a much better 'fatale seductress' than rape victim.
Listen, this movie is tame by today's standards. The rape scene from "The Accused" (1989) is twice as graphic, the make up effects are about as good as "Dawn of The Dead" (1978), and the gore is about as plentiful as "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (1973).
Tame, tame tame. Cheap cheap cheap.

 not for the faint of heart.
What a classic! this movie is truly brutal. a must have in any gorehound's collection. the woman in this film is driven to the brink of insanity, and completely ravaged, only to execute bloody revenge on all her attackers.
this one gets "5" stars!!!

Too much
this is a very explicit movie, and it's not for everyone...but if you like to watch men at their worst and a vengeful woman, this is for you.

The movie gets it's point accoss with bravery even if it's not with acceptable technical profile this 30 years later.
The controversial scenes should have little horror effect by themselves; which is to say it requires imagination and a positive attitude (either towards the film or the woman on it).
When all is said and done, if you are apreciative and thoughtfull you will get something good out of experiencing it, else you'll need to have low standards to get the same result.

I believe this movie is a true classic. It is too bad that Camille Keaton and Erin Tabor could of not wed. in this movie, and she bear all the rest of his off-spring's. It would have been my sincere wish, that nine months after her wood's incident with Erin Tabor, that she did bear his child in this movie.
