The ten tracks that make up this compilation are anything but T.G. Sheppard's greatest songs. During the late '70s and into the '80s, Sheppard had several Top Ten country hits, with no less than 14 that climbed to number one. The majority of those hits were released on Warner Bros., of which Curb is a subsidiary. Logically, you would figure at least a few of those tracks would be included on a package called Greatest Songs! Nope! This makes no sense; Sheppard has a great voice and was often paired up with top-notch producers and songwriters, but with the exception of "Born in a High Wind," these tunes are obscurities and cover versions of Billy Swan's "I Can Help," Bryan Adams' "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You," and "Haunted House" by Jumpin' Gene Simmons. Not to add gasoline to the fire, but the cover art is absolutely hideous as well. Sheppard's back catalog deserves better treatment than this. ~ Al Campbell

| | Trick Pony R.I.D.E. CD (2005)
Greatest Songs CD music
$7.29 R.I.D.E., the title of Trick Pony's third album, stands for "Rebellious Individuals Delivering Entertainment." Of course, in 2000's Nashville, rebelling could often mean playing straight-up old-school country while not taking oneself too seriously, two pursuits at which Trick Pony excels. A slice of good-time barroom country rock, R.I.D.E. manages to sound staunchly traditional while never sticking too close to a formula. Primary lead vocalist ...

| | Lee Oskar My Road Our Road CD (1980)
Greatest Songs album
$8.79 It came as no surprise when Avenue reissued most of War's '70s albums on CD in the '90s -- many of those albums had been gold and platinum sellers as LPs, and the market for reissues of classic soul and funk was a healthy one. But because Lee Oskar's solo albums of 1976-1980 were far from the huge sellers that War's albums were, it came as a pleasant surprise when Avenue started reissuing them on CD in the '90s. First ...

| | Alastair Greene Band Walking In Circles CD (2009)
Greatest Songs album
$16.45 Since his 2002 debut CD ‘A Little Wiser’, Alastair (known as ‘AG’ by friends and fans) has released 2 live CDs and a collaboration with French blues guitar hero Frank ‘Paris Slim’ Goldwasser on Riatsala Music. He has also played guitar on recent releases by Alan Parsons (2006 Grammy nominated ‘A Valid Path); Aynsley Dunbar (2008 release ‘Mutiny’); as well 2 CDs on the Delta Groove Record Label, Frank Goldwasser’s 2007 release ‘Bluju’ and Mitch Kashmar’s 2006 release ‘Wake Up and Worry’. The Alastair Greene Band has been performing live for over 10 years in various incarnations. Alastair still performs regularly with Mitch Kashmar, Frank Goldwasser, and other blues and roots acts. He is also a frequent guest with the Alan Parsons Live Project.Alastair’s new CD ‘Walking In Circles’ features 6 original songs and 5 covers ranging from the Elmore James-influenced title track and the deep Muddy Waters vibe on ‘Pocket Full of Change’ to the Gov’t Mule-style reading of ‘Get Out Of My Life Woman’ and the hard-boogie ZZ Top-inspired interpretation of ‘Cut You Loose’. Mitch Kashmar (currently playing with 70s latin-funk band WAR) lends his legendary harmonica playing to 5 tracks as well as piano on a pair of songs. The Albert Collins classic instrumental ‘Don’t Lose Your Cool’ is given an original treatment in which Alastair and Mitch play the melody in unison before throwing down a couple of terrifying solos. The groove and title of ‘Back Alley Strut’ (an AG original) reflects the influence funky New Orleans band The Meters, while the comical ‘Drunk Again’ is a shuffle reminiscent of the updated Jimmy Reed style that the Vaughan Brothers popularized in the early 80s. AG also utilizes his first instrument (the tenor saxophone) on the fast swing ‘Look Out Baby’, which may feature the most blazing guitar solo on the record.‘Walking ...
