Deluxe edition of the critically acclaimed punk-metal outfit's 2004 album includes a bonus DVD.
The Dillinger Escape Plan: Ben Weinman, Brian Benoit, Chris Pennie, Greg Puciato, Liam Wilson. That's it, screwheads. It's over. Pack up your trunks, deconstruct the drum kit, and hightail it back to Athens, 'cause the Dillinger Escape Plan just handed you your ass. Again. "Surprise!" new vocalist Greg Puciato begins on "Van Damsel." "It's not what you thought as it runs a dead stop." A thousand bands would've quit at "...what you thought"; Dillinger adds "runs a dead stop," and makes you leap out of the way of its hardcore car crashing into the jazz establishment. No kidding! After five years, the band has lost nothing, only gained. Time signatures are a play toy, genres are a joke, and the wannabes' goofy "I'm so tortured, listen to me scream" is nowhere to be found. Here, jarring instrumental changes work as a bitches' brew of stealthy genius, sticking you with a shiv and changing faces in the dark. Technical metal, righteous hardcore, twittering jazz interludes, and starkly melodic, seemingly post-punk-inspired segments all put the punters soundly in their place. Miss Machine doesn't even really seem that angry. Well, not anger for anger's sake, anyway. Cuts like "Panasonic Youth" and "We Are the Storm" are fueled by a manic alchemy of metal and hardcore, and Puciato's veins couldn't have survived the sessions. But the rage is artful; it's an integral part of Dillinger's larger performance. In the near future, rich women and fuddy-duddies will consider Miss Machine through opera glasses as sweaty children lash each other with cat-o'-nine-tails. There's nothing more to say -- the next true image of rock & roll has crawled out of the swamps of Jersey. ~ Johnny Loftus Released almost two years after Dillinger Escape Plan's previous recording, IRONY IS A DEAD SCENE (featuring guest singer Mike Patton of Faith No More/Mr. Bungle fame), MISS MACHINE finds the band sporting a new vocalist, but still offers the same incredibly complex mix of heavy metal, hardcore, avant-garde jazz, and progressive rock. Sounding at once more abrasive and more accessible, the New Jersey quintet takes the art-rock innovations of Shudder to Think and adds the extreme intensity of death metal. The band also throws in the experimental edge of Mr. Bungle and the dynamic chops of DISCIPLINE-era King Crimson to create something entirely its own. Less a collection of songs and more a multi-faceted tour through the outer boundaries of rock music, MISS MACHINE will challenge even the most regimented pop fan to lay aside preconceptions and take the journey.

If you like Dillinger's style of music, you should have a look at a band called sikTh Submitted by somewhere (Governer's Office) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Amazing! Submitted by marcelom (Stgo, Chile.) I don't know what to say This cd is so freakin awesome. The much anticipated full length Miss Machine has definitely outdone itself with the incredible amount of talent The Dillinger Escape Plan have. With the new singer, Greg Puciato, Dillinger adds a whole new harmony to the spectrum, while still maintaining that Dillinger-esque signature style, and even adding another feature that I believe stems from their side project with Mike Patton. Absolutely mind blowing, I would have to say this cd dangerously rivals Calculating Infinity, if not surpasses it. I love this cd. Buy them all! Breathtaking.... The second full legth album from The Dillinger Escape Plan is a real killing plan! In my opinion, previous vocalist Dimitris Minakakis was better. But everything else is simply brainsmashing. Unique, extremely technical avantgarde metalcore. P.S. Fantastic calm interludes. Submitted by tadas (Lithuania) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$16.39 I first heard Winton Reynolds play in Austin, TX at an upscale jazz pub. Austin is known for its live performances, so it takes a lot for a newcomer to garner any notoriety. From the moment I walked in the door, Winton Reynolds commanded my attention. He was playing some jazz standards with some session players. Although I had heard all of the tunes before, Winton's rendering was as fresh and vibrant as the first time those songs were played in the Cotton Club or the Palace. Winton manages to maintain great technical skill at the piano without compromising the spirit and soul of the music. His music has no sharp edges - it is a wave of passion and warmth and sophistication that draws from the listener ...
