| | Cirque Du Soleil Alegria Soundtrack CD (2 Customer Reviews)
Composer: René Dupéré. Original Soundtrack/Cirque du Soleil: Francesca Gagnon (vocals); Jean Marie Benoit (acoustic 12-string guitar, classical guitar); Howard Forman (electric guitar); Francis Covan (violin, accordion); Mark Langis (double bass, bass guitar); Dominique Messier (drums); Andre Gosselin (percussion). Cirque Du Soleil's Alegria fuses elements of French, Spanish, African, and Mediterranean music into dramatic new-age pieces. Highlights include the title track, "Querer," "Taruka," "Jeux D'Enfants," "Icare," and "Valsapena," all of which recall the theatrical, multicultural appeal of Cirque Du Soleil's elaborate circus performances. ~ Heather Phares Cirque Du Soleil Alegria Soundtrack Songs Alegria Soundtrack Music Review Purchase Music From Alegria CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Cirque Du Soleil Zumanity CD (2005)

Alegria Soundtrack
$11.89 Original Soundtrack/Cirque du Soleil: Julie McInnes (vocals, acoustic guitar, tiple, cello); Toumany Kouyate (vocals, kora); Roxanne Potvin (vocals, flute, percussion); Elise Guay (vocals, bagpipe, shawm, recorder, crumhorn); Lei Qiang (erhu); Jean-Francois Cote (accordion, keyboards, programming, sampler); Stephanie Gariepy (soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone, keyboards); Vovo (percussion, sound effects). It may well be true that the stage show of O is more lavish, creative, and spectacular than its older sister Mystere, but music has little to do with its overall appeal. One gets the feeling that the musical score took a backseat to the visual effects in the show -- and without any visual effects, the soundtrack is not as exciting as the live show. It is slow and pretty. Benoit Jutras used a light touch with the musical pyrotechnics ...

The Modern Jazz Quartet: John Lewis (piano); Milt Jackson (vibraphone); Percy Heath (bass); Connie Kay (drums). Recorded in New York, New York on July 2, 1955. Originally released on Prestige (7005). Includes liner notes by Ira Gitler. Digitally remastered using XRCD (Extended Resolution Compact Disc) technology. The Modern Jazz Quartet: John Lewis (piano); Percy Heath (bass instrument); Connie Kay (drum); Milt Jackson. The first Modern Jazz Quartet album to feature drummer Connie Kay (replacing Kenny Clarke), 1955's CONCORDE finds the ensemble easing into its long-running lineup, rounded out by vibes player Milt Jackson, pianist John Lewis, and bassist Percy Heath. In addition to originals by Jackson (the light, lilting "Ralph's New Blues") and Lewis (the bright, upbeat title track), the MJQ offers up an excellent selection of standards, most notably a fast-paced take on "I'll Remember April" that has Kay earning his stripes with some impressive cymbal work. After issuing 10" EPs for several years, Concorde (1955) marked two significant touchstones in the five-plus-decade career of the Modern Jazz Quartet (MJQ). One of those was the replacement of co-founder Kenny Clarke (drums) with former Lester Young quintet member Connie Kay (drums), who joined in time for the other hallmark -- this, the MJQ's very first full-length long-player. Kay remained with the combo for the better part of four decades, until his passing in 1994. The transition between percussionists is both smooth as well as sensible. Kay's understated rhythms and solid timekeeping are perfectly suited to the clever arrangements and sophisticated sound of Milt Jackson (vibraphone), John Lewis (piano) and Percy Heath (bass). One MJQ ...
