If there was a prize for most ambitious and, at the same time, the most versatile band on the prog rock scene, then The Flower Kings would surely be the front runner for it. Since their 1994 debut, Roine Stolt "The Flower King" the Swedish progressive rockers have released a new album almost every year, often even in the form of a double CD with extended playing times and different styles. With "Adam & Eve", the band present their latest work, which more than ever represents an overflowing interface of progressive rock, melodic rock, blues, and jazz.

Sorry guys, but this didn't really sound much different to any other Flower Kings album. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of TFK and prog rock in general, but a random sampling o this album would be indistinguishable from many other TFK albums. It's well performed and well produced as always, it's just that the songs are not particularly original or adventurous. Too much style not enough content.

Para los que ya conocen algo de los Flower Kings, y les gusta, sin duda que este CD les va a encantar, pues tiene todos los ingredientes que a uno le gustan de este gran grupo. La novedad es que han incorporado definitivamente a Daniel Ginderlow como miembro estable, el cual se nota en varios temas, pues mas que nada canta........no se nota si toca algún instrumento, pues el sonido es el mismo que el CD anterior, osea,muy sinfonico, muy solido, muy entretenido.
Para los amantes del Progresivo, no lo piensen mas, solo comprenlo y disfrutenlo.

How did I not know these guys?
On the strength of a review I bought this album, and frankly was blown away. It’s Yes without the whiny voice, It’s Colleseum with out the drum solos, it’s keef Hartley without the bad guitar, it’s Marillion without, well, Marillion. Buy this you’ll be glad you did, me? I’m buying there back catalogue right now!

If you like this band already, than this album is worth owning. If you have not heard them yet, start with something else, like Startdust We Are or Retropolis. Basically, as a long time fan, I find this to be their weakest effort. On its own merits, it's not a bad album, hence my 3 star rating. But when held up to the standards of their previous work, it just seems kind of tired and not adventerous. Still, there are some new elements, like the song "A Vampires View" and the title track. But overall, I think that this will be at the bottom of my list of Flower Kings favorites (right below Rainmaker). But as I said above, if you are a fan, don't hesitate to buy it, as I still think that it is a good album, just not necessarily a good Flower Kings album.

Taking its cue from Madonna's ballad collection Something to Remember, Rod Stewart's If We Fall in Love Tonight combines several of his biggest ballads with three new songs. If We Fall in Love Tonight is targeted directly toward an older, adult contemporary audience who no longer wants to hear Stewart's harder-edged material. Which means that not only is "Maggie May" not included, but neither is "This Old Heart of Mine," since both are a bit too uptempo for this collection. Instead, the album is nothing but ballads, going back as far as "Tonight's the Night," "The First Cut Is the Deepest," "I Don't Want to Talk About It," and "You're in My Heart," but concentrating on '80s and '90s hits like "Downtown Train," "All for Love," "My Heart Can't Tell You No," "Have I Told You Lately," and "Broken Arrow." The compilation also contains rarities like the Sting and Bryan Adams collaboration "All for Love" and the Carole King cover "So Far Away," a new version of "Forever Young," a cover of Leo Sayer's "When I Need You," the James Newton Howard song "For the First Time," and the Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis collaboration "If We Fall in Love Tonight."
