"...Enemy" is a friendly encounter... Richard Marx is back! Good music, long overdue. Mellow in comparison to the edgier sounds of his debut and sophmore albums, but a definite must have for true Richard Marx fans. By US325 (Queens, NY)
richard marx cd is awesome I think that richard marx is an amazing talented singer , but he's not as famous as other country singers , and it kills me that he is not , he is better than many others. By ussra_better (morocco)
The Return of Richard Marx Although this album did not get very much airplay or promotion, it is a great cd and worthy of your attention. By Jonathan (Long Island, NY)
Richard Marx Returns At His Best "My Own Best Enemy" is an album that brings back the rock and roll style of Richard Marx. The debut single "When You're Gone," that includes guitar and background vocals by country artist Keith Urban, is a strong first release for the singer/songwriter/producer. By Denise Frame-Leitch (Monmouth County, New Jersey)
Marx hits the mark! Call it a comeback if you will, but he never left. This album flies with tunes that ONLY Richard Marx can perform. By proteus (Afghanistan)

Eagles Very Best Of CDs (2003) Top Seller
My Own Best Enemy buy CD music THE VERY BEST OF includes a 46-page booklet with pictures and track information.
"Hole In The World" was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
The Eagles' founders Don Henley and Glenn Frey were forthright in their desire to bring then-emerging country rock to new heights of commercial success. Formed in Los Angeles in 1971, they learned from their observations of the scene around them, and subsequently took their music to the top of the charts. They stayed there throughout the '70s, becoming synonymous with the sound of Southern California rock.
The band's first hit was with a song by Jackson Browne, and their first album also included a cover of "Ol' 55" by Tom Waits, but the bulk of the material they're known for was penned by Henley and Frey. This two-disc set wisely expands the original VERY BEST OF collection with important album tracks that have also long been band staples and favorites (such as the aforementioned Waits tune and a number of other songs from their pre-platinum first three releases). As is often the common industry-wide practice, there's also a new song, "Hole in the World."
A 2-CD retrospective from the multiplatinum superstars whose 1976 "Greatest Hits" is the #1 album of all time! Special Limited Edition bonus DVD included with a music video, outtakes from the video and backstage pass to Farewell 1.

Van Halen Best of Both Worlds CDs (2004)
My Own Best Enemy CD music Bursting forth in the late 1970s, Van Halen made its mark by melding the hammering wallop of hard rock with an iconoclastic approach to the guitar. With striking virtuosity, Eddie Van Halen's guitar playing succeeded in turning the heads and dropping the jaws of a wide range of listeners. Matched with the acrobatic energy of frontman David Lee Roth and the formidable rhythm section of bassist Michael Anthony and drummer Alex Van Halen, these combined elements added up to Van Halen's hugely success musical formula.
THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS is a two-disc overview of more than 25 years of Van Halen recordings. The set contains a few of the now-standard new songs included in such offerings. Placed on the first disc, this trio of tunes finds VH's second singer, Sammy Hagar, back on board (he'd left in '96 when the band planned to record with Roth again). In fact, the compilation's title (taken from the Hagar-era song) is a reference to the band's two major eras, as demarcated by their distinctly different frontmen. The result is a collection that features raucous, hyperactive songs with Roth ("Hot for Teacher," "Jump," "Unchained") and soaring ballads and mid-tempo anthems with Hagar ("Dreams," "Right Now," "Finish What Ya Started").
Includes three previously unreleased tracks.
2CD Career Retrospective W/ 3 New Tracks.
Van Halen: David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, Michael Anthony , Sammy Hagar.

Bob Seger Face the Promise CD (2006)
My Own Best Enemy songs Of all the heartland-based "working class rockers" of the 1970s and '80s, Bob Seger was one of the most consistently credible and satisfying. Not only did he brandish a muscular classic rock sound, but he was a talented songwriter, giving equal emphasis to rebellious electric barnstormers and melancholic, thoughtful folk-tinged tunes. Seger's spotlight may have faded by 2006's FACE THE PROMISE, but that doesn't mean any of his power as a singer, songwriter, and performer had diminished.
Seger's gruff voice sounds as weathered and gutsy as ever, and his status as an elder statesman hasn't led him to turn down his amplifiers a single notch, as the pounding title track and "Wreck This Heart," the album's opener, prove. But one of Seger's great strengths has always been his reflective, acoustic-driven songs, and "No Matter Who You Are" and "Won't Stop" deliver on that count, demonstrating that even after all these years Seger still has his touch.
Recording information: Home Studios, MI; Ocean Way Studios, Nashville, TN.
Personnel: Bob Seger (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, slide guitar, synthesizer, string synthesizer, percussion); Bob Seger (vocals); Eric Sean Murphy, Patty Loveless (vocals); Brent Rowan (guitar, acoustic guitar, electric guitar); Kenny Greenberg, Biff Watson (guitar, electric guitar); J.T. Corenflos (guitar); David Cole (electric guitar, percussion); Aubrey Haynie (mandolin, fiddle); Connie Ellisor, Elisabeth K. Small, Zeneba Bowers, John Catchings, Jim Grosjean, Mary Kathryn Van Osdale, Craig Nelson , Carl Gorodetzky, Pamela Sixfin, David Davidson , David Angell, Gary VanOsdale, Matthew Walker, Carole Rabinowitz-Neuen (strings); Jim Hoke, Randy Leago (tenor saxophone); Sam Levine (baritone saxophone); Steve Herman (trumpet); Bill Huber (trombone); John Hobbs, Billy Payne, Gordon Mote (piano); Glenn Worf, Larry Paxton (bass guitar); Barbara Payton, Laura Creamer, Leslie Mills, Shaun Murphy, Thornetta Davis, Bernie Barlow (background vocals); Kid Rock (vocals, slide guitar); John Jarvis (piano); Paul Leim (drums, cowbells); Eric Darken (drums, tambourine, percussion); Eddie Bayers, Steve Brewster (drums).

Michael Mcdonald Motown Two CD (2004) Top Seller
My Own Best Enemy album for sale MOTOWN TWO again pairs the former Doobie Brother with a collection of A-list pop studio musicians (bassist Nathan East, drummer Vinnie Colaiuta, etc.), but also features several key cameos. Stevie Wonder contributes his immediately identifiable harmonica stylings on "I Was Made to Love Her," while Toni Braxton proves a worthy heir to the Motown divas of yore on "Stop, Look, Listen (To Your Heart)." Interestingly enough, the smooth production style and the Teddy Pendergrass-esque gruffness of McDonald's voice often make the record seem more like 1970s Philadelphia than '60s Detroit. A rare genre-specific covers album that sounds like a tribute instead of a retread, MOTOWN TWO is an unusually satisfying sequel.
Michael McDonald's first disc of Motown covers signaled a popular rebirth for the veteran blue-eyed-soul singer, garnering several Grammy nominations and reaching the Top 20 on the Billboard chart. The project was a critical and artistic success as well, the sound of Diana, Marvin, et al proving a perfect match for McDonald's voice. Happily, the second volume seems born of a genuine desire to keep the good vibes going.
Personnel: Michael McDonald (vocals); Toni Braxton (vocals); Michael Thompson (guitar); Stevie Wonder (harmonica); Tim Carmon (piano, Wurlitzer piano, organ, synthesizer); Billy Preston (Hammond b-3 organ); Nathan East (bass guitar); Simon Climie (programming, background vocals); Toby Baker (keyboard programming); Sharon White, Lawrence Johnson , Rachel Oteh, Michelle John, Joy Malcomb (background vocals).

Days in Avalon CD (2000) Top Seller
My Own Best Enemy buy CD music Asian edition features four bonus tracks: "This I Promise You," "High," "I Can't Help It" and "Until You Come Back to Me."
Chicago native Richard Marx's sixth self-produced studio album consolidates his reputation as a stellar purveyor of smooth rock. Every song fits Marx like a thousand-dollar suit; it's hard to pick one out that's not tailor-made for your favorite lite FM station. They all portray Marx as the lonely-yet-attractive outsider of countless similar songs, though "Almost Everything," with its "All Along the Watchtower" opening minor-key chords, points the way to a more genuine emotional commitment to his material.
"Power of You and Me" is a midtempo rocker that recalls late '80s adult contemporary rock at its best, while also harking towards a kind of Nashville 2000 country/rock hybrid that would sound at home on a SheDaisy album (Marx has collaborated with both the Nashville girl combo and 'N Sync). "Straight From My Heart" is a pretty, acoustic song that's more obviously Nashville-oriented. Marx is certainly a consummate songsmith--the son of a Chicago commercial jingle songwriter, he learned writing-to-order at his father's knee. For unrepentant, grown-up pop smarts, look no further.
Asian exclusive edition of the 80s soft rock-star's 2000 album includes four bonus tracks not on the domestic version, 'This I Promise You' (his own version of the N SYNC hit), 'Until You Come Back To Me', 'High', & 'I Can't Help It'. Jive. 2003.
Personnel includes: Richard Marx (vocals, keyboards); Anne Bent, Julie Lyons (vocals); Michael Landau (acoustic & electric guitars); Bruce Gaitsch (acoustic guitar); J.T. Corenflos (electric guitar); Michael Thompson (guitar); Paul Franklin (pedal steel guitar); Jeffrey C.J. Vanston (keyboards, programming); Randy Jackson (bass); Herman Matthews (drums); Fee Waybill, Yvonne Gage, Joan Collaso, Robin E. Robinson, Alison Krauss, Shannon Brown (background vocals).
