Damaged: The Remixes album
$13.09 Arguably Michael Gira's finest work outside of his pioneering noise band, Swans, HOW I LOVED YOU is an atypically low-key, at times downright beautiful album blending acoustic guitar, piano, accordion, banjo, and quirky orchestrated passages underneath Gira's conversational vocals. One of the centerpiece tracks is called "Song For Nico," and comparisons to classic Nico albums like THE MARBLE INDEX and DESERTSHORE are not far off the mark. Serge Gainsbourg circa HISTOIRE DE MELODY NELSON is another musical touchstone: while Gira's album is nowhere near as musically lavish, a similarly uneasy mood of queasy eroticism, dread, and languor runs through tracks like "Jennifer's Sorry," "New City in the Future," and the 12-minute epic closer, "Two Women." Fans of the more aggressive aspects of Swans might be somewhat disappointed with the album's generally placid mood, though the sometimes disturbing lyrics connect HOW I LOVED YOU to Gira's more transgressive works.

| | Revolting Cocks Beers, Steers And Queers CD (1990) Remastered
Damaged: The Remixes music CDs
$11.65 If any industrial unit can be compared to the twisted, madcap humor of Frank Zappa, it's the Revolting Cocks. While other industrial acts offer dark, depressing reflections on the state of the world, the Cocks can hardly be accused of taking themselves too seriously. Their forte is wild musical comedy as goofy and eccentric as it is irreverent. Beers, Steers + Queers, the group's ...
| | Ministry Side Trax CD (2004) Remastered
Damaged: The Remixes songs
$14.19 Ministry mainstays Al Jourgensen and Paul Barker were remarkably busy during the late 1980s and early '90s. In addition to releasing their best albums during this period--particularly the aggro-techno opus THE LAND OF RAPE AND HONEY and the fierce, guitar-laden THE MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING TO TASTE--the duo dabbled in many side projects, a number of which are collected here.
The swirling stomp of 1000 Homo DJs' take on Black Sabbath's "Supernaut" proved to be more conventionally "rock" than anything Jourgensen and Barker had recorded under the Ministry name, while the "No Name No Slogan" single, credited to Acid Horse, matched them up with the influential industrial act Cabaret Voltaire. However, the most notable aspect of SIDE TRAX is the inclusion of Pailhead's entire TRAIT EP. One of ...
