5 stars Outstanding collection of songs
I did not grow up in this era but the selection of songs on these three CDs are outstanding. As a vintage radio collector I can't explain how great the music sounds on a 1940s console. Outstanding value and quality recordings. Highly recommend this set if you enjoy music from this era.

4 stars Beautiful Music From The War Years
An excellent compilation of many of the biggest hits of the WW2 era. Chock full of wonderful tunes here, whether love songs or silly but fun novelty tunes. My only complaint is that Rudy Vallee's version of As Time Goes By pales in comparison with the original and best version as done by Dooley Wilson, best remembered for singing the tune in the classic movie Casablanca. If you are into collecting the music of the 1940s, you can't go wrong with adding this collection. I myself own quite alot of 1940s music, and I know that there are still a great many WW2 era tunes that would make for another great 3 cd set-perhaps a part 2 to this set. Highly recommended.

5 stars Just what I' hoped for.
I have always been a WWII enthusiast, i.e., appreciative of the war efforts during that time. To be sure, I am a romantic and latch on to anything about those times. I am pleased to say that I was swept away with nostalgia listening to, World War II: As time Goes By. It is a wonderful collection and my favorite collection of songs ever. Played it for a WWII veteran friend of mine and he "had to have a copy." I have ordered it for him as a gift. I know he will love it as I do. Sincerely, Carl Bartholomew, Tulsa, OK.

5 stars The Best is in the Past
Although I am a Baby Boomer, and have lived through all the music since the 50's, I am so glad that I have the opportunity to experience the incredible WW II music of the past through these great CDs. It will make a wonderful gift for anyone who grew up in that era. I played it for my uncle, and it was awesome hearing him sing along. He's in his late 70's, and he still recalls most of the words to those songs.
