Radio album
$13.05 This expansive compilation focuses on a series of disco songs released on theT.K. Records label, most of which date from the mid- to late '70s. Despite the seemingly limiting "disco" tag, The Best of T.K. Disco presents a nicely diverse cross section of material from this genre: Indeed, the music covers everything from the lush, almost symphonic Euro-disco of Beautiful Bend's "That's the Feeling" to the earthy, bass-driven funk stylings of Uncle Louie's "Full Tilt Boogie." Along the way, it unearths plenty of lesser-known ...
| | Teedra Moses Complex Simplicity CD (2004)
Radio CD music
$9.85 Teedra Moses's debut has an undeniably winning charm in its subtle, after-hours ambience. Steering well clear of the vocal gymnastics of many of her peers, Moses instead relies on the natural pleading quality that's inherent in her voice. The production, courtesy of Roots producer Paul Poli, never overwhelms, allowing Moses to float enigmatically through a set of songs that range from the relaxed, world-wise "No More Tears" to the poppy ...
| | Brian Mcknight Gemini CD (2005)
Radio music CDs
$10.65 On that latter track, the silken-voiced balladeer intones "it's hard to breathe without you, girl, and baby, that's a fact" with an earthen, vulnerable sincerity that typifies every McKnight composition. It's that mature connection to his songs that places McKnight in the category of the finest contemporary R&B crooners. He drives that point home on "Grown Man Business," as he touts the virtues of the reliable, refined man over the sweetest of soul beats. Brian McKnight has been turning heads since he was in his teens, and as a thirtysomething on GEMINI, he is at the top of his game.

| | Anita Baker My Everything CD (2004)
Radio songs
$11.69 Anita Baker first garnered a big audience in 1986 with her second record, RAPTURE. A critical favorite with a uniquely raspy, jazz-like expressionistic singing style, she scored a major pop and R&B hit with "Sweet Love." From that initial success, Baker carved her own niche somewhere between deep soul and smooth jazz. After a few more albums she decided to concentrate her passion on her family.
Following nearly a decade's hiatus, Baker returns to the recording studio with 2004's MY EVERYTHING, and, happily, very little has changed. She hasn't tinkered one bit with the sound that made her a beloved singer, emerging with a record both comforting and enrapturing. "You're My Everything" contains lyrics straight out of a WWII-era torch song, and a vibe that would have fit snugly on one of her first few outings. Although backed by a driving saxophone on the energetic gospel/blues number "I Can't Sleep," Baker fills much of MY EVERYTHING with sweet love songs. She brings it all together on the closing track, "Men in My Life," a tribute to her husband and two young boys.

| | Jon B Stronger Everyday CD (2004)
Radio album
$11.49 From the first track, "Everytime," where the always-unpredictable rapper Dirt McGirt lets loose, Jon B. reveals a sound that is both harder and smoother. On his first three efforts, B.'s best moments were when he molded '70s funk into his own modern take on urban R&B. STRONGER EVERYDAY finds a sweet soul groove and hangs in there for five alluringly sensual tracks before switching into a hip-hop-inspired style, and these ...

| | Nine Inch Nails Fixed (1998)
Radio music CDs
$6.49 The companion piece to Trent Reznor's explosive industrial rock / metal opus Broken, Fixed sees the songs twisted through an intense remix process that makes them even darker than the original doom rock creations they began as. With contributions from noted studio experts like J.G. Thirlwell, Coil, Butch Vig, and Reznor himself, the more industrial versions of these guitar-themed tracks appear in a completely new light. The mixes range from sinisterly quiet to more beat- and drum-oriented, but they also retain the awesome power of the core compositions. The remix of the Grammy-winning "Wish," for instance, features a lengthy, saturated ...
