Personnel: Joe Bonamassa (vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar); Jon Paris (harmonica); Benny Harrison (Hammond b-3 organ); Eric Czar (bass guitar); Kenny Kramme (drums, percussion). Blues-rock guitar wizard Joe Bonamassa can make a set of electric six-strings burn and wail, but like many such guitarists, he still requires focus for it to be truly special. Such intense focus is a hallmark of HAD TO CRY TODAY. While some guitarists squander notes, Bonamassa makes each one count whether he's engaging in country-flavored picking (the late, great Danny Gatton was clearly an influence), blistering rock-edged blues, or turbulent, inspired jamming. TODAY delivers on Bonamassa's previous promise in a big way.

this guy smokes Joe is one of the cleanest, technically savey, and tasteful guitar players i have heard in a long time. LIsten closely and you will hear Jeff Beck, Roy Buchanan, Stevie ray,and johny winter, but no dout about it, its all joe. He takes apart all his influences and different styles and puts it together with a complete understanding of it all. have't listens to any new guitar work in a while? you can't go wrong with joe, the guy smokes! Joe has done it again! Had to cry today is one of the best blues/rock cds I've heard . I haven't been turned on my ear sience I first heard SRV, but Joe hs done so from the begining with A new day yesterday,he gets better with each release. Joe's soulful playing and vocal style make every song his own! And for the guitar pickers he evan tells how he acheved his sound on the tunes.way cool! Not Joe's Best I love Joe's music! I've bought all his CD's and intend to continue doing so..at least untl they turn south quality wise. This CD however is not Joe's best! It has some good songs (not great) but what turns me off on it the flow of the CD is broken by a handfull of country and downbeat songs. The two should not be mixed with the sound of a Rocking Blues Guitar Singer and guitarist! Sorry..just being truthful! Submitted by dsmith93 (austin, texas) Was This Review Helpful? When Crying's A Good Thing How do you begin to sum up a CD that exceeds all one's expectations? The variety, depth, and intensity of this CD are absolutely astonishing!
Whether Joe's playing at warp speed or whispering sweet nothings in your ear, he's pulling you right into each song.
If your heart rate isn't affected by his music it's time to see a cardiologist. Submitted by Joanie (San Diego, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

Had To Cry Today
$11.79 Producers: Clif Magness, Dave Bassett, Matt Chiaravalle. A wizard, and a true guitar star, Joe Bonamassa was bending an axe's six strings before he could legally drive. Released in 2002, SO, IT'S LIKE THAT is his second disc, and it provides hints of the heights he'd later hit. Bonamassa is at his best when stretching ...
