Nonsequence album
$13.69 Diana Krall's first studio outing since she and husband Elvis Costello became the proud parents of twin boys, 2009's QUIET NIGHTS finds the jazz singer/pianist turning in a serene and pleasantly subdued set. Krall breezes through a few bossa nova standards, most notably "The Girl from Ipanema" (here gender-reversed to "The Boy...") and the title track (originally "Corcovado"), both penned by the legendary Antonio Carlos ...

| | Miles Davis Tribute To Jack Johnson CD (1970) Remastered
Nonsequence album
$7.59 A TRIBUTE TO JACK JOHNSON was originally conceived as the soundtrack for a documentary on the life of the first African American heavyweight boxing champion, but the album stands on its own as one of the most brilliant, compelling fusion recordings ever made. This is due in large part to the increasing influence of rock and funk on Miles's aesthetic, to the superb ...
| | Spyro Gyra Road Scholars CD (1997)
Nonsequence CD music
$12.65 If you don't like Lite Jazz, Contemporary Jazz, Instrumental Pop, whatever you want to call it; stuff that wouldn't sound out of place in between David Sanborn and Kenny G on your local radio station, you probably shouldn't even be reading this far, because Spyro Gyra are avatars of the style. If their bag is your bag, however, you can feel comfortable diving right in to the sonic tapestry that is ROAD SCHOLARS. The band's synth-driven instrumental assault, ...

Son of Catherine & Ulpio Minucci (a concert pianist/composer, who wrote the 50s hit, Domani (Julius LaRosa), A Thousand Thoughts of You, and Felicia (both Nat King Cole). Chieli grew up in Queens, NY, where he still resides today. He began music early on, studying classical piano from the age of 5, and eventually switched over to guitar at 8. He was continually surrounded by the sound of music, through his father's piano playing, and composing, which was to play a key role in his musical future as a writer himself. At age 13 he joined neighborhood friends to form the band, Taurus, which stayed together for about 3 years. Chieli did a great deal of performing and traveling with this band, performing regularly on the Italian Line Cruise ships during Christmas and Easter school holidays, as well as countless school dances and parties, as well as local bars. It was during these teen years that he developed his love for performing, writing, singing, and traveling, all through music. He attended Ithaca College in upstate NY, where he initially majored in music, studying ...

| | Eacret and Ledeboer Perpendicular CD (2006)
Nonsequence music CDs
$11.49 This album shows a more pop side of the duo, in contrast to the folk bent of their Offspring CD. Rich arrangements include wonderful piano and guitar work, and some of the best instrumentalists from the Cedar Valley area. Most of the songs on the disc were written by Eacret, and they showcase both his depth of feeling and societal criticism. For a political bent, check out the biting Into the Black ...
| | Becky Gonzales Hughes Late Bloomer CD (2005)
Nonsequence songs
$15.19 Notes from Becky:I've been an elementary school teacher for 28 years and I love teaching. I also love singing. I get an opportunity as a teacher to sing with my students and hopefully to instill in them a love for music as well as an appreciation for many kinds of music.About six months before my 50th birthday I very nervously turned to my husband, Luther Hughes, and said, "For my 50th birthday, I don't want a party, I don't want a trip, I want to make a CD of jazz tunes." He turned to me and said, "What?" (He was definitely surprised that this notion would ever enter my mind.) So I repeated myself, expecting him to say how silly I was, but he replied, "Okay, choose some tunes...ones that are meaningful to you." I didn't mention it again for months. In January, when I had pretty much talked myself out of this silly idea, Oprah Winfrey celebrated her 50th birthday big time! Then I thought, "Yes, 50 is a big deal and I'm going to make a big deal of it. If I chicken out now I won't get another chance." So, I thought carefully about my tunes. Around this time, Luther asked me which musicians I wanted for the recording. Of course I wanted to use friends and great musicians. Luckily, with my husband's connections that was no problem. So the big day comes and starts off like any other day. I got up at 5 a.m., taughtall ...
