A woman is given the responsibility of her sister's children and must learn how to make a life transformation. Stars Kate Hudson, John Corbett and Joan Cuasck. DVD special features include deleted scenes, bloopers, commentary. Helen Harris (Kate Hudson) is a rising star in the New York City fashion world, just on the brink of being promoted to agent at a premiere modeling agency. The sudden death of her older sister (Felicity Huffman) and her brother-in-law shocks Helen from her exciting life of photo shoots, nightclubs, and hot dates. It brings her back to reality, a reality that includes custody of two nieces (ages 15 and five) and a 10-year-old nephew. Free-spirited Helen suddenly finds her life turned upside down. She is not only learning how to be a mother to three children, but she is also mourning the loss of her sister and brother-in-law, moving to a different borough, looking for a new career, and attracting the romantic interest of Pastor Dan (John Corbett), the principal of the kids' new Lutheran school. To complicate matters more, her surviving sister Jenny (Joan Cusack) is a Supermom in her own right who can't understand why their late sister entrusted carefree Helen with custody of the children. Garry Marshall (THE PRINCESS BRIDE, PRETTY WOMAN) directs this story about a woman who discovers what is really important when her life changes overnight. Theatrical Release: MAY 28, 2004 Raising Helen Reviews: "Hudson's sunny, ringlet-tossing appeal fits snugly into the film's happy-homemaker ideology."

A great movie A lot of people would think that a movie about a young woman who has to take of three kids because their parents passed away is something old and that it has been used in other movies and in tv shows. But this movie takes another turn and shows how important are the simple things in life. Helen prefered to have the kids around than focus on her career, it's a really cool movie with funny scenes. It's so nice to watch it and Kate Hudson is amazing. Submitted by Fernando (Sao Paulo, SP, Brasil) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.

Raising Helen review
$13.59 Filmmakers Fremont and Dunn follow Berlin's infamous use of taped conversations with her perpetually indignant parents as well as her role in the inspiration of Warhol's artistic techniques. The film has a shambling distanced aesthetic, and uses both video and Polaroid photography, mixing Berlin's personal revelations with archival footage of the heady Warhol days. Now past sixty, Berlin is portrayed as an emotionally unrestrained and pathologically tragic heroine of her own story, tracing an unlikely path to creative and personal freedom albeit dogged by unending eccentric obsession.
