Purchase Wake Up Call CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Stars As Eyes Enemy Of Fun CD (2002)
Wake Up Call album
$7.89 As evidenced by their tongue-in-cheek title (after all, "fun" is IDM's very own f-word), Stars as Eyes strove to dispense with the cement greys and muted blacks of the duo's naval-gazing debut in favor of something more vibrant and lively for this second album. So, in addition to their familiar strain of polite electronics (which pepper the album at seemingly random and inopportune moments), they deliver a mess of mutant guitar squalls and fuzzy analog drones, which ring with a cumulative and resoundingly goofy discord. Unfortunately, "goofy" is rarely synonymous with "fun," and Enemy of Fun is no exception -- with moody ambient techno and Capitol K-style finger paintings misfiring off each other, it's too self-reflexive and inconsistent to really have a good time. Though there ...
| | MxPx Panic CD (2005)
Wake Up Call CD music
$10.35 Thirteen years into the game, MxPx have gone from being fresh-scrubbed high school students playing punk with a Christian bent to wizened vets in a scene where musicians barely into their thirties are practically middle-aged. For PANIC, these Washington natives have instead turned towards a more traditional, SoCal punk sound. Amid the harmonies and choppy guitar are opportunities to play spot-the-influence. "Late Again" has a cow-punk vibe melded with soccer-style chanting that comes off as Social Distortion-meets-Dropkick Murphys. Although not as breakneck as Bad Religion, MxPx does a fair approximation of the former on "Kicking and Screaming," with vocalist/bassist Mike Herrera sounding farily ...
| | MxPx Secret Weapon CD (2007) With DVD; Deluxe Edition
Wake Up Call music CDs
$15.99 With 2007's SECRET WEAPON, the Christian punk-pop band MxPx reunited with its former label, Tooth & Nail, much to the delight of longtime fans. Helmed by lauded CCM producer Aaron Sprinkle, the album showcases the Washington State trio's tight, streamlined sound, particularly on the surging title track and the searing "Punk Rawk Celebrity."
This CD/DVD set promises something for everyone. The band partners again with producer Aaron Sprinkle. ...
| | Puddle Of Mudd Famous CD (2007)
Wake Up Call songs
$11.99 Puddle Of Mudd underwent a serious personnel overhaul following 2003's LIFE ON DISPLAY. Drummer Greg Upchurch jumped ship to join 3 Doors Down while guitarist Paul Phillips chose to follow his muse with new-to-the-scenesters Operator. POM founder Wes Scantlin (vocals, guitar) and longtime bassist Doug Ardito keep the Mudd sound intact here, though, moving a bit from the early nu-metal stylings to a more natural comfort zone of raunchy post-alt rock. The solid collection of songs on FAMOUS flaunts track after track of made-for-radio anthems, with Scantlin channeling Kurt Cobain's sneer as it communes with Layne Staley's predilection for sinister-sounding vocal harmonies.
Puddle of Mudd: Douglas Ardito (vocals, guitar, bass guitar); Christian ...

| | Wilbert Harrison Let's Work Together CD (1969)
Wake Up Call songs
$12.59 A quickie album, Let's Work Together was supervised by Juggy Murray to cash in on the unexpected success of Wilbert Harrison's big hit, but it's not a bad effort all the same. Harrison brings his unique vocal delivery to oldies such as "Blue Monday," "Stagger Lee," "Louie Louie," and "Stand by Me," imparting his own personal stamp to each. ~ Bill Dahl

| | Engaged Untitled CD (2006)
Wake Up Call album
$10.15 Upon first glance, one sees in Engaged two handsome fellas with two handsome guitars. At second glance, one says, "wait a minute, who let two guys with acoustics on stage at a rock venue." This reaction, though understandable, is full of fears that are proved unsubstantiated upon the first sounds to come from the stage. As the slightly more scraggily of the two characters lets loose a powerful, "wowha!" before beginning to chunk out a righteously thick guitar part, one can relax. Yea, though the two on stage carry acoustic guitars, the rock is in them.Engaged is about death and rebirth. In 2000, Engaged emerged from the rubble of missouri band, RMS, as a four-piece chaotic ape rock act. However, in time, Engaged grew ill and died of natural causes. It was not long after the 2002 demise that Engaged emerged again, this time as the two-man acoustic wrecking crew.In the days of the first Engaged, a few discs were released including 2000's "Distance is a Gaping Wound" and 2001's "Ate Songs." The discs were fuel for two consecutive summer tours, ...
