$10.29 Life imitates art in this adaptation of Karen Joy Fowler's bestselling novel about a book group reading the work of Jane Austen. Each of the people in the group is at a different stage of life: there's Sylvia (Amy Brenneman), whose husband has just left her for another woman, and her daughter Allegra (Maggie Grace), who's looking for a woman herself. Bernadette (Kathy Baker) has six marriages under her belt, while Jocelyn's (Maria Bello) most significant relationship is with her dog. New to the group of friends are Prudie (Emily Blunt), a teacher who is unhappy with her marriage, and Grigg (Hugh Dancy), the group's only man--a sci-fi fan invited by Jocelyn to take Sylvia's mind off her failed marriage. As they make their way through Austen's novels, they discover that the writer's work is just as relevant in the 21st century as it was in the 19th. The group has its own Emma, and a sparring would-be couple bears striking resemblance to Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy.
THE JANE AUSTEN BOOK CLUB succeeds largely thanks to the strength of its cast. Bello is better known for dramatic roles in films ...

$7.39 In director Stanley Tong's action-packed film, martial arts megastar Jackie Chan (as a Hong Kong police officer named Jackie) battles on land, in the air, and underwater in his efforts to help both the CIA and a Russian intelligence agency retrieve a stolen Ukrainian nuclear warhead. Sent on an easy tailing job, Jackie gets more than he bargained for and is soon fighting for survival on a frozen mountaintop against gun-toting baddies on skis and snowmobiles. Luckily the chase sends him to warm Australia, but danger still comes at Jackie from all angles--including sharks from below. As with other scintillating Tong-Chan partnerships, FIRST STRIKE features classic Chan-style slapstick comedy and balletic fight sequences, including an unforgettable warehouse brawl in which ...

Combustion review
$10.05 Robert Altman follows up the good-natured COOKIE'S FORTUNE with this biting satire of an upper-class elitist Dallas community. Richard Gere plays Sullivan "Sully" Travis (better known as Dr. T), a man whose good looks and overflowing charm have made him the most popular gynecologist in all of Texas. Things begin to go wrong for Dr. T when his beautiful wife, Kate (Farrah Fawcett), begins to lose her sanity. He sends her to a mental hospital with the hopes of a full recovery, but her regression into childhood seems to be permanent. Adding to the mass confusion is an unexpected visit from his alcoholic sister-in-law, Peggy (Laura Dern), who brings along her three children, as well as the constant battles between Dr. T's two daughters: the soon-to-be-married Dee Dee (Kate Hudson) and the jealous Connie (Tara Reid). Upon meeting his country club's new assistant golf pro, Bree (Helen Hunt), Dr. T finally feels like he's met his match--a ...
