Et Si C'Etait Moi CD music
$12.59 As any quick perusal of old Top 40 rock & roll station playlists will attest, singles were where the shakin' action was, as rock & roll albums were scarce as hen's teeth back in those pre-Beatle days. But when the record companies decided to issue one, it was usually an artifact of high rockin' value and some major influence. Naysayers to the contrary, this debut album by the Northwest's first great rock & roll combo is just such an artifact. The Wailers dispensed crude, greasy, largely instrumental rock & roll music for those who came to shake it up and shake it down, and it's all on fine, rhythmic, open display here. This album is amazing in its own simplistic, nuthin'-special way, its crudity almost palpable. There's only one vocal aboard, Kent Morrill's "Dirty ...

| | Jacques Dutronc Et Moi Et Moi Et Moi (1996) CD (1966) (Import) France
Et Si C'Etait Moi songs
$9.39 If ever Rhino considers a foreign language Nuggets compilation, the inclusion of Jacques Dutronc would be inevitable. Although succeeding albums would see him evolve stylistically into the French counterpart to Ray Davies at his creative peak, Dutronc's debut spawns vintage garage rock akin to the Yardbirds and the the Troggs. "La Fille du Père Noël" even shares a sped up Bo Diddley riff with Diddley's "I'm a Man." Other fine examples include the bluesy "Sur une Nappe De Restaurant"and the irresistibly hip shaking and buzzsaw guitar laden "Les Gens Sont Fous, les Temps Sont Flous." Though some would argue that someone like Antoine to be a more true heir to the French garage crown, Dutronc wins out by humorous lyrics (courtesy of Jacques Lanzmann) and his inseparable ironic delivery. One of the debut's signature songs, "Et Moi, et Moi, et Moi," was intended as a stab at Antoine's "Les Élucubrations d'Antoine." It succeeded in ridiculing his contemporary in two ways. Lyrically, it dissected Antoine's "Subterranean Homesick Blues" of sorts for all its narcissism. To top things off, some people mistook it for a new Antoine hit instead of identifying it as Dutronc's debut single. (Regretfully, during the mid-'70s Mungo Jerry refashioned it into the far less provocative "Alright Alright Alright.") A few more songs deserve special mention. First off, there's the second single "Les Playboys" where Dutronc mocks stereotypical ...

| | Low Red Land Weight Of Nations CD (2006)
Et Si C'Etait Moi CD music
$12.69 We are Low Red Land. We are a three piece from San Francisco, CA, made up of Ben Thorne on bass and vocals, Neil Thompson on guitar and vocals, and Mark DeVito on drums. We all met in college in upstate New York and played a lot in crappy houses in and around Franklin Springs. We moved on to Boston for a few years and played in a four piece band that had very mild success. The fourth member of the band chose to go back to school, Mark messed up his back shovelling snow, and we decided to move to California. We got here in July of 2005. Since arriving the city has been very inspirational. Our music has grown at an incredible rate, and we are all much happier with what we are playing. Moving away from our homes, families, and jobs also made us very tight, which has carried over to our music. We couldn't be happier with our music and our decision to pursue rock and roll as a lifestyle. We get frustrated trying to describe our sound. That is pretty common among bands playing original music. We strive to sound like nothing but Low Red Land, and we think we do a good job of it. One of our bios says something about us being an explosive rock trio with heart-felt lyrics and precise dynamic changes. It also says that we don't like band bios because they're written by people too close to the music. There are too many comparisons made, too many big words used, and too much effort taken to sound unique. Our ideal band bio would read, "Come see us play a show. We are awesome."We recently completed our first national tour, playing thirty-five shows over seven weeks. It was a great experience for us as a band. We played some great shows, learned a lot ...
