THE MONSTER THAT CHALLENGED THE WORLD: A small earthquake awakens monsters in the depths of the Salton Sea which triggers the giant snail-like creatures to begin to multiply. Now, it is up to the Navy to try to stop these deadly mollusks as they migrate down the California waterways in search of more humans to devour.
IT! THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE: After the first mission to Mars fails, a second ship is sent to pick up the survivors. However, only one man is left, and it appears he murdered the rest of the crew! When the space ship returns to Earth, the crew discovers a most unwelcome stow away--a living, breathing, hunting, killing creature! This low budget favorite has been sited as one of the inspirations for ALIEN (1979).

Great to see thes again after all these years. My only gripe is that they assume that no-one has a widescreen tv. These movies are 16.9 and are presented in 4.3. Other than that, the picture quality is 1st class. James.

Saturday Afternoon Fun
I vaguely remember MONSTER THAT CHALLENGED THE WORLD from my childhood, and as a fan of 50's giant bug/critter movies this one is good fun.Fans of this genre will enjoy watching Navy scientists battle to rid the Salton Sea area of giant, carnivorous mollusks.The premise by which these giant creatures develop is plausible,the plot is suspenseful, several familiar character actors appear throughout the movie, and children not jaded by too much computer-aided graphics will enjoy this with a bowl of popcorn and a soda. My ten-year-old son has enjoyed watching creature flicks with me for many years and has developed an appreciation for 1950's sci-fi. This movie is an even better deal when purchased as a set with IT! THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE, which foreshadows the ALIEN series of movies.
