William R. Moses, Steven Curtis Chapman, and Megan Follows star in this Max Lucado film. William R. Moses (FALCON CREST, PERRY MASON) stars as an emotionally barren man who rediscovers the meaning of Christmas in this heartwarming holiday film based on a short story by Christian author and pastor Max Lucado. Hoping for a respite from his shaky marriage to wife Meg (Megan Follows), Chicago journalist Jack Davenport (Moses) travels on assignment to a small town in Texas to investigate a mysterious nativity scene. With the help of a local minister (contemporary Christian recording star Steven Curtis Chapman in his first acting role), Jack begins to unravel the mystery and finds himself on a healing journey of self-discovery that reaffirms his passion for life, love, family, and the holiday season.
Christmas Child Movie Review Average Rating: (3.3 out of 5 stars) Solid family movie to warm a marriage with hope. My wife and I both enjoyed the movie having read the book as well. First drawn to the movie being fans of Megan Fellowes. Wonderful story of trial, martial struggles common to many, hope, forgiveness, and redemption. We don't buy many movies but this is one to have in a personal library. Would like to have seen more film time with husband and wife interacting showing their relationship coming back together. The airport scene was warming but lacked buildup. Glad we own the movie. People of faith do have great stories to share. Submitted by ray.green1 (Arlington Hts., IL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Christmas Child Heartwarming and Inspiring I first saw part of Christmas Child on television. I missed the beginning. When I was changing channels, I noticed Steven Curtis Chapman playing the guitar, so I started to watch the movie. It was heartwarming and inspiring - it made me feel how I want to feel all the time. I can't wait to watch it again - from the beginning - with my family at Christmas. Plus, ordering it from CD Universe was easy, inexpensive, and quick. Thank you. Re : Christmas Child Livink in the Uk I was not sure whther I would see this for at least a month. However I ordered it on the 21st Dec and it arrived on the 3rd Jan. I have to say that the condition of the dvd was immaculate and would like to thank cd universe for the speed and quality of the product.
The movie itself I thought was very engrossing. There are a lot of emotions and life matters being displayed and it is displayed very well. I think that the main character who plays jack gives an oustanding performance. The soundtrack is awesome and being a fan of Steven Curtis Chapman I loved the part he played as pastor. Some of the support acting is very good as well. I like the lady on the help desk of the birth records building, she is funny and a great actor.
There are great extras and bonus features on the dvd featuring long interviews with the directors etc...music video trailers and interview from stevn curtis chapman.
Altogether thouroughly enjoyed this movie and the extras, well worth the price! I would recommend it to anyone, it's simply brilliant! Submitted by harmonymeister (Manchester Uk) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$10.29 Life imitates art in this adaptation of Karen Joy Fowler's bestselling novel about a book group reading the work of Jane Austen. Each of the people in the group is at a different stage of life: there's Sylvia (Amy Brenneman), whose husband has just left her for another woman, and her daughter Allegra (Maggie Grace), who's looking for a woman herself. Bernadette (Kathy Baker) has six marriages under her belt, while Jocelyn's (Maria Bello) most significant relationship is with her dog. New to the group of friends are Prudie (Emily Blunt), a teacher who is unhappy with her marriage, and Grigg (Hugh Dancy), the group's only man--a sci-fi fan invited by Jocelyn to take Sylvia's mind off her failed marriage. As they make their way through Austen's novels, they discover that the writer's work is just as relevant in the 21st century as it was in the 19th. The group has its own Emma, and a sparring would-be couple bears striking resemblance to Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy.
THE JANE AUSTEN BOOK CLUB succeeds largely thanks to the strength of its cast. Bello is better known for dramatic roles in films such as THE COOLER and THE HISTORY OF VIOLENCE, but she does an excellent job with this film's lighter tone. As know-it-all Prudie, Blunt steals just as many scenes as she did in THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA. Though it might seem like a clubhouse with a "No Boys Allowed" sign, the men in the movie hold their own with the female ...

Christmas Child DVD
$14.59 Coming off the success of 2006's ROCKY BALBOA, action star Sylvester Stallone revisits yet another of his iconic characters from the 1980s, John Rambo. Now living like a hermit and wrangling rattlesnakes in Thailand, Rambo is drawn back into the action by a group of do-gooder missionaries who want the taciturn, possibly psychotic, Vietnam vet to ferry them upriver into Burma. Though he initially proves reluctant--"Burma's a warzone"--Sarah, played by Julie Benz, convinces Rambo of their noble intentions. Doesn't he want to relieve suffering and stop ethnic cleansing? But when the group of idealists gets captured by the Burmese army, it's up to Rambo and a team of multinational mercenaries to save the day. What follows is an exhilarating, hypnotic explosion of violence as Rambo fights genocide with genocide, turning men into hamburger meat with high-powered machine guns, well-placed bombs, razor-sharp machetes, and, the most deadly weapon of all, his bare hands.
Rather than trying to update the character, RAMBO succeeds largely by returning to the Reagan-era values that made its hero so great in the first place: his pathological obsession with laying waste to emphatically ...
