Focus album for sale by Cynic was released Oct 05, 2004 on the Roadrunner label. Chuck Schuldiner's Death got pretty clinical with the odd time signature, and Atheist got pretty busy with their complex arrangements, but Florida's Cynic simply threw the progressive metal playbook out the window. Their only official recording, 1993's ground breaking Focus, meshed metal and jazz on an unprecedented scale, and explored the creative possibilities of this strange musical hybrid to a degree which has yet to be equaled. What a Masterpiece
Cynic's Focus is one of my favorite (Metal/Jazz) experimental bands of all time. With clean drums and excellent riffs, Cynic is a band to listen to.

work of art
I'll cut to the long and short of it with this review. Simply put, this album is one of the best pieces of progressive metal out there! This really is a MUST HAVE album, pure genius! Nevermind what other people tell you, be adventurous for a change and check this album out and be really adventurous for a change.

One of Metal's Hidden Treasures
Although this album was released during death-metal's heyday in 1993, it marked a huge step away from the standard blast-beat and cookie monster growls of the genre.
