 Un poquito mas... a little more...
I truly enjoyed listening to this disc. I just wish it had more cuts on it. It made pull out my dad's old LP's and listen to them all over again. I've been listening to Los Alegres since I was born back in '63. These old songs were never on any of the old LP's my dad had, and he had every one recorded until then. These songs were culled from the old 78's that were distributed to vendors for their juke boxes in cantinas. There are better songs to hear from them during this time as you can hear their music and style evolve. What you'll also hear during this time and in the early Falcon recordings is Eugenio singing with other vocalists. According to my dad, Tomas didn't know how to sing or couldn't sing for whatever reason. Keep a keen ear for other voices. Listen as the accordion style evolves, their vocaliztions, compositions, and stylings too. What Arhoolie has done is gather up a few gems for us to appreciate. There are whole generations who will never know of these two guys and their contribution to Mexican music. He oido este CD. Me gusto tanto que tuve que sacar los LP's de mi Papa y oirlos todos de nuevo. Yo tambien soy fan de Los Alegres desde que naci en el '63. Lastima que esta coleccion no tuviera mas canciones. En estas grabaciones se oye la evolucion de su estilo de canto, composicion y tambien como tocan. En estas grabaciones y en las primeras con la disquera Falcon, se oye Eugenio cantando con otros vocalistas. Tomas no sabia o no podia cantar en esos tiempos. Eugenio usaba a otros cantantes de otros conjuntos para la segunda voz. Hay mejores canciones de esta epoca en su desarollo como el conjunto que define y enpadrina este genero de musica. Desafortunadamente, solo se les grabaron unas cuantas piezas para usar en pianolas para cantinas y otros lugares. Hay mucha musica perdida de este tiempo de bastantes musicos, no solo los Alegres. Lo que la Arhoolie ha hecho es econtrar lo poco que se ha conservado y presentarlo para que otra generacion los descubra de nuevo. Espero que haya mas, mucho mas.

 ESPERABA MAS
Este cd de los Alegres es digamos REGULAR, como para tenerlo en la coleccion esta bien, yo soy fan de los alegres y la verdad es que pienso que pudieron haber escogido mejores canciones de esa epoca para esta produccion.
