 Amazing Movie - Disappointing Package
War and Remembrance and it's prequel The Winds of War are by far the greatest mini-series in television history. I've watched both series over 30 times!!! I was very excited to find out that War and Remembrance was coming to DVD and I bought it right away. However, I was disappointed with a few things. The first is that the DVD is billed as War and Remembrance - The Complete Set. This is misleading as it only includes the first 7 episodes. The next 5 are coming out next year. If you recall, the television version aired the first 7 episodes and then waited 6 months to air the last 5 episodes. So in reality, I thought I was paying $90 for the entire 12 episodes, I was only paying for the first 7 and will have to shell out an additional $100 for the next 5 episodes (which apparently also includes a soundtrack CD which is cool). I'm assuming that eventually, after they release the next 5 episodes, they will have a set that really includes all 12 episodes. Also, you should know that according to what I have recently read, The Winds of War will not be released on DVD anytime soon because it is owned by a different company and is tied up in legal problems. As for the bonus materials on the 6th disc, it was pretty good. I wish they had been a little longer and more in depth, but that's o.k. Another disappointment for me was I was hoping that they would go back and mix in 5.1 surround sound (is that even possible on old movies?). Anyway, if I had to do it again I would wait until the second part of the series is released and then buy them all together.

 War and Rembrance, Parts 1 thru 7
This is an outstanding series. We have the Winds of war and we are trying to get War and Rembrance, Parts 8 thru 12.

 War & rememberance Disk 1-7
This was excellent, however be aware that it is not the complete mini series. I discovered this as it ends leaving you looking for the ending disks. Not sure how many more disks there are to buy, but what i viewed was excellent.

 impressive production
It is hard to believe the obvious production costs incurred in creating this television miniseries. I can't imagine any WWII buff not enjoying the character and battle depictions. Highly recommended.

 WW2 in Short
This series came out in the 1980's in South Africa and I followed it very closely. Since recieving the DVD's it brought back memories. This series makes you think about the pain that war cuases not just to society but also to families caught up in the war
