THE BEST OF AL STEWART features 17 songs by British folk rocker Al Stewart, featuring his hits "Year Of The Cat," "Time Passages," and "Song On The Radio."
The 17 tracks that make up EMI's Centenary Collection are culled primarily from Al Stewart's post-1976 output, so fans looking for a generous slice of pre-Year of the Cat material should probably stick to more comprehensive fare like Rhino's two-disc Definitive Pop Collection or its single-disc Greatest Hits anthology. That said, many of Stewart's late-'70s works are on par with his early singles, so for every "You Don't Even Know Me" and "Carol" that's missing from this set, there is a "Time Passing," "Song on the Radio," or "On the Border," so as far as a quality period study goes, Centenary Collection delivers the goods. ~ James Christopher Monger
Eleven songs from Al Stewart's albums Past, Present and Future (1974) through Live Indian Summer (1981), remastered in 1992, which gives it more than decent sound. "Roads to Moscow" is drawn from Past, Present and Future (the inlay card erroneously lists Live Indian Summer), and "Year of the Cat" is the hit studio version, but the producers have chosen live versions of "Nostradamus" (which emphasizes its Tommy-like central riff) and "On the Border," rather than their superior originals, probably to retain the value of the original albums. Includes full lyrics (but no instrumental credits) and notes by David Dasch, which may explain too much, removing the mystery from some of the material. ~ Bruce Eder
17 track retrospective of his entire career. Features thehits 'Year Of The Cat', 'Time Passages', 'Song On TheRadio', 'Midnight Rocks' and 'On The Border'. All tracksare the original full length album versions! 1996 EMICentenary release. The full title is 'The Best Of AlStewart: Centenary Collection'.
All songs written by Al Stewart, except "Time Passages," "Running Man," "Midnight Rocks," "Merlin's Time," and "Year Of The Cat" (Al Stewart/Peter Wood).

Best Of Al Stewart songs
$18.39 Like a majority of up-and-coming British bands of the 1960s, the Zombies made nearly two dozen BBC Light and Radio 1 transmissions between the fall of 1964 and the spring of 1968. The 29 cuts hail from a variety of those programs. In many cases their alternate persona as a consummate and immensely soulful cover combo is likewise illuminated. The parenthetical "bonus tracks" moniker may be seen as somewhat of a misnomer, since this volume is in essence the ...

"Many of my improvisations eventually become written compositions ending up on my CDs. My intention is to bring healing vibrations to the world through my music."Some of the tracks on Into the Green are inspired by piano improvisations Steiner created during services at the First Presbyterian Church of San Rafael, California and the San Francisco ...
