Stravinsky: The Rite Of Spring; Nielsen: Symphony 5 / Järvi CD

 Lacking drive
I was excited to find a sacd recording of these works, especially on the same disc, however, on listening my excitement turned more to disappointment. I feel that both of these works lack driving energy with the result of dulling the performances. I have always believed a great interpretation of The Rite of Spring is one which makes the listener want to throw off their clothes and dance around the room naked, transfixed by the sheer power and drive of the rhythm. Unfortunately, with it's lack of dynamic range and rather pedestrian pace, this Rite of Spring fails for me. As far as the Nielsen 5th goes, I don't have anything better to say about this performance. As with The Rite of Spring, Nielsens 5th needs that driving intensity which it doesn't get in this performance. The orchestral playing, however, is great in both works and as usual, the high standard Telarc recording is achieved. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the technical performance of these works, It's the interpretation that fails to do it for me.

 The best SACD
I do not speak English. I say that it is impossible to give single 3 stars to this magnificent recording: this is the best SACD ever listened!!! Sorry for short review
