Buy This CD! Felix Weingartner was better known in his day as a conductor, especially of Beethoven. As this CD demonstrates, he was also a first-rate composer with a gift for lyricism who has been unjustly forgotten. Buy this CD! And then check out the three other Weingartner releases from CPO, each with a symphony (the prime attraction) and other orchestral work, each recorded in full, rich sound and magnificently played by the Basel SO, under the direction of Marko Letonja. $17.69 When I began my formal voice training at 13 years old, I actually thought I would become a Wagnerian soprano. Within ten years, the style had lost its charm for me. I began in earnest to explore the rock, jazz, and fusion styles of singing, popular in the 70s and 80s.In the middle of the 90s I had the great fortune to meet Joanne Marlow. She encouraged me to rediscover classical singing, and I thank her for helping me reconnect with my artistic and cultural roots.I chose these songs for their melodic beauty and the sentiment of the lyrics. I hope you enjoy this collection of a dozen roses.
