| | Rachel Sweet Fool Around CD (1992) Reissue
High Rollers: Vintage Gambling Songs 1920-1952 songs
$9.99 An unlikely member of the Stiff Records stable, Rachel Sweet was a brassy, big-voiced teenager from Akron, Ohio who nevertheless won over the very British, very punky label with her chutzpah and good taste in songs. This 1977 debut album--reissued and remastered in 2007--made a splash on both sides of the Atlantic, with a variety of pop styles suited to Sweet's emotive voice: there's countrified pop (Elvis Costello's "Stranger in the House"), updated Motown ("B-A-B-Y"), and big-beat new wave ("Who Does Lisa Like?"). Perhaps this reissue will persuade Sweet to come out of musical retirement and serve up some more great music from an adult perspective.
In 1978, during one of his many visits to the US, Stiff founder Dave Robinson met producer/writer ...
| | Tracey Ullman You Broke My Heart In 17 Places CD (1983) Reissue
High Rollers: Vintage Gambling Songs 1920-1952 album
$10.45 Tracey Ullman was already an established comedienne and actress in the UK when label head Dave Robinson heard some of her musical parodies and signed her to Stiff in 1983. Over the next twelve months she became one of the best selling Stiff singles acts ever, before calling it quits and relocating to the US where she established herself through an HBO series and various films. This re-release has been newly remastered, includes four bonus tracks and brand new sleeve notes. 16 tracks including 'Breakaway', 'They Don't Know' and 'My Guy' (a cover of the Madness hit 'My Girl'). Stiff. 2007.
Although comic actress Tracey Ullman is these days entirely dismissive of her early-'80s sideline career as a chart-topping pop singer, that's an unfair assessment. There is nothing much of lasting ...

High Rollers: Vintage Gambling Songs 1920-1952 music CDs
$7.59 This edition of GLASS HOUSES is an Enhanced CD containing both a full audio program as well as video clips for the songs "Sometimes A Fantasy," "It's Still Rock And Roll To Me" and "All For Leyna."
All tracks have been digitally remastered using 24-bit technology.
As one can tell from the cover photo of a blue-jeaned, leather-jacketed Joel getting ready to throw a rock (a pun on the album title), GLASS HOUSES is the album where he attempts to lay waste his reputation as MOR balladeer. He accomplishes this feat by forging a harder, more rocking sound, with the help of guitarists ...
