| Over the Hills and Far Away This CD is excellent, especially if you are into Operatic-Metal [just the right mix of the two], and bands with female lead singers. The music stylings blow me away. Better than their earlier efforts but not as good as 'Once', which did get the video from 'Wish I had An Angel' airplay on 'Headbanger's Ball'. Buy it! Enjoy it! | Tight Nightwish EP-album with live-songs Nightwish recorded their absolutely fantastic Live-gig "From wishes to eternity" here in Finland on DVD and it's truely a musthave to any Nightwish fan. This CD gives some taste from DVD in flesh with six live-tracks, one re-make, one cover and two additional songs. Gary Moore's 87'coversong and album's titletrack "Over the hills and far away" shows Nightwish raising hat to the original artist, yet giving fresh NW-flavour in it. Epic, spiritfull song is followed by true Nightwish-classic and album's best track "10th Man Down". This melodic power heavy track will rock your boots to the ceiling for sure if u like any bit of band's delivering. Re-make of "Astral Romance" is also nicely rocking track. Nightwish-album "Over the hills and far away" is definitely recommendable if you don't own the live-DVD or just want those excellent first tracks. 100% pure Nightwish! | The Right EP at the Right Time Over the Hills and Far Away is a suitable piece for Nightwish to have released after Wishmaster. In many ways it is a place marker, as there would be some subtle changes in the Nighwish sound on subsequent records. I saw them live this summer, and the live tracks on this record, although now a few years old, are a very good representation of the live Nightwish sound. In the genre of operatic European metal, Nightwish has no equal. By don.taylor (Concord, NH, USA) This review is for a different format. |
| Short but great Excluding the extra live tracks this ep is rather short but the music is great. By JPingel (British Columbia, Canada) This review is for a different format. |
| Where has this band been hiding??? I heard the song "Over The Hills And Far Away" on an internet Celtic radio station and I began my search for this cd. Tarja Turunen's vocals are powerful and operatic. Her vocal range is incredible. Why hasn't this band caught on to the American music lover?? By Mike (New Jersey, U.S.A.)
